It is obvious that Palestinian Arabs do not want peace. It is obvious that Hamas is a despotic terrorist organization bent on murder. The truth:

All of them have been rejected by Palestinians, who were happier to risk losing everything in a war than to accept the existence of a Jewish state.

A thought has been worming its way uncomfortably through my mind since Oct. 7. What if peace is impossible? What if there is literally no way to reach a lasting accord? What if one side will settle for nothing less than the destruction of the other?

My doubts began in the immediate aftermath of the atrocity as I watched the reaction of some Palestinians and some of their sympathizers, not least in the West. On that dreadful Saturday evening, there had as yet been no Israeli response. Protesters did not have the (perfectly reasonable) argument that the participants in later demonstrations had, namely that they were defending human rights in Gaza. No, this was exultation in the murder of Israelis, pure and simple.

Gaza “must include Palestinian-led governance” and be “unified with the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority,” according to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Muhammad Dahlan, the former PA Gaza viceroy whom Hamas ejected in its 2007 coup, also said he would not accept an offer to govern the strip after Hamas because there is no one person who can fix things for Palestinians, who need an overhaul of their politics and system.

As Palestinians, and many Arabs, blurred the line between Gazans and Hamas, discussing Gaza’s future became tantamount to treason.

These Palestinians and Arabs seem to think their antagonism toward Israel buttresses their ruling legitimacy and have as such chosen politicking over policymaking.

Fortunately, the United Arab Emirates has walked in the opposite direction.

People want peace. Leaders often do not. Palestinians would like equal rights and self-governing, Netanyahoo made it clear he has no intention of allowing that. He wants absolute rule over Palestine. He is similar to Trump, who wants absolute rule over America. Wannabe dictators need to be stopped.

Thanks for articulating the point I made with a smart ass remark instead :). That's exactly correct. There are no clean hands among the leadership of Israel and the leadership of Hamas. But a country is its PEOPLE not its LEADERS. I sure as hell don't want the United States defined by Donald Trump and his cult. That's not who we are.

Bloviating equivalency between Hamas and Israels Government is a sign of mental retardation. Also, agreeing with a moron like NerdBerg.

No, it is a country torn by civil war since 1948. Israel agreed to peace in 1948 when they agreed to U.N. Res. 181. The Muslims rejected peace.

Gaza was artificially and illegally created when the Egyptians illegally invaded and stole land from the former British mandate.
