what makes us who we are?

I think some are born with mental defects that will cause them to be likely to be violent or cruel (ie nature). I do however believe that our experiences during our lives are the biggest factor in how we turn out (Nurture).

We need to spot those with the defects early so we can try to modify their behaviour and thought process to help them to better coexist in society.
Or perhaps if we can fix the defect with medical procedures or drugs.

With his mind he's rendered himself just as powerless as the people he murdered and he's completely ignorant of it. It's just sad.

In Europe we appear to be in the veritable 'Dark Ages', throwing money at schemes puporting to seek out the early indicators of mental illness, usually resulting in abject failure and a dead body or two, whereas in the United States you have broken through that seemingly unbreakable glass ceiling.

Oh yes, we doubted you America, but you showed us, twice, that you didn't care what that prejudiced world thought. It's oh so easy to sentence a homicidal maniac to life imprisonment, or a last date with the electric company, but it is quite another thing to suspend one's prejudice and petty aversions to elect that man President of one's country.

America, we salute you.

Round up all the Young Republicans and take them in for intensive, in-patient therapy. That's a good start.

A very good posting. I will probably get more chuckles out of this in the future while reflecting back on it.
Thanks

imho all the reaming devout Bush supporters should under go treatment for mental illness.
It is sad to think that 28% or so of our population is so seriously mentally ill.

All joking aside, that really is a depressing thought. It's not just Bush, per se. There are about 30% or so of the people in this country who are simply so stupid -- and/or lazy -- that they'll believe whatever they're told by anyone they perceive to have Authority over them.

It comes with the package, though. That's just the way people are.

I was not joking.....
Yes it is somewhat depressing to realize the real situation of the human race....
Much less stressful to live the life of a vidiot and do what the tube tells you to do, than to think and consider on our own.

You do realize that every member of the human race says that, don't you?
