Well, I wasn't even around on December 7, 1941, but I will never forget the date or what happened at Pearl Harbor.

What good does it do anyone to never forget attacks on America by our enemies?

It may have been good for our fighting forces to stay angry and not forget what the Japanese did to us so they might attack them ferociously in combat.

But what good will it do us to remember Sept. 11, 2001, aside from honoring the memories of those lost?

I will not forget 9/11. I lost a good friend in that attack. He was on board the 2nd plane.
I will not forget Pearl Harbor either. That raid resulted ultimately in Japan losing that war, and is now a free nation because of it. The dictatorship was removed and a republic inserted in it's place.
I will not forget the first use of nuclear weapons, the touching ceremony in Hiroshima the Japanese have for the ones they lost on that anniversary each year, the Shoe Bomber, the attack by our own government on it's own citizens in Waco, TX or Ruby Ridge, ID, the bombing by McVeigh, the Watts riots, the Kennedy assassination, the attempted Reagan assassination, the beginning of the currently expanding civil war, or any other significant event.

To ignore history is to repeat it.
