Moldovan medical student allegedly stabbed mother then ripped out her heart while she was still alive
A medical student from Moldova is suspected to have killed her mother by ripping her heart out while she was still alive.
Anna Leikovic, who is also a wannabe Instagram influencer, appeared in court over the death of her mother Praskovya Leikovic, 40, in Comrat, Moldova.
"She stabbed her mother with a knife and then cut out the heart of a living woman," a police source told Komsomolskaya Pravda news.
The source said Leikovic then "decided to rip the heart out of the chest of a dying woman".
"It is hard to believe but she cut out the heart in the most literal sense of the word."
Leikovic allegedly cut out other internal organs, including the lungs and intestines, with a kitchen knife, the Mirror reported.
The 21-year-old is said to have then calmly taken a shower before going to meet her boyfriend.
Leikovic has now appeared in court where video shows her lying down in the dock and cleaning her nails.
When she was asked by a journalist whether she killed her mother, Leikovic reportedly replied: "goodbye".
There were reports Leikovic had been to rehab for drug abuse, however, her uncle Vladimir denied the claim, the New York Post reported.
"This was a very good family," he said.
"Praskovya loved her daughter so much, and she spent as much time with her as she could. It took two hours for the police to tell me Anna is the main suspect. I could not even imagine this."
An investigation is now underway to clarify the motive for murder.
