Oh it's possible alright...
The king of Crazyland has followed through on his threat and, as I surmised last Friday, it was more of his paranoid asshattery. Glenn Beck revealed Monday that the Benghazi-Boston connection is … only in his head.
Remember the Saudi that Beck talked about last week, Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Harbi? He is currently in a Boston hospital – he was wounded in the bombing – and investigators have gone through every inch of the 22-year-old’s home in Revere, MA and questioned his roommate. Al-Harbi is in the country on a student visa, studying at the New England School of English under a scholarship. There is absolutely no indication that he had anything to do with either Benghazi or the marathon bombing.
But that sort of information never stops Beck. He has spun a demented fantasy around Al-Harbi, stating that the Saudi man was “tagged” as a 212 3B, which Beck says is “proven terrorist activity.” It is, in fact, related to material support and primarily addresses medical care. There are exemptions to the provision, too. The rule is couched in government doublespeak so I’m guessing that Beck read into it what he wanted to read. To wit:
“We are not sure who actually tagged him as a ’212 3B,’ but we know it is very difficult to charge someone with this — it has to be almost certain. It is the equivalent in civil society of charging someone with premeditated murder and seeking the death penalty — it is not thrown around lightly.”
There is nothing in the provision to indicate that it is “very difficult” to charge someone under this section of immigration code.
Beck goes on to say that Secretary of State John Kerry met with the Saudi Foreign Minister on Tuesday and that, after that meeting, the FBI began to downgrade Al-Harbi’s status in regards to the bombing. That meeting was supposed to be open but was changed to closed a mere 15 minutes before it began. The explanation given — that it was due to Kerry’s tight schedule — was not received well by journalists. But this is hardly enough to make outlandish claims … unless you’re Glenn Beck. In which case, you not only cast aspersions against Secretary Kerry, but on the president, too. While Pres. Obama and the Saudi Minister did fit a meeting in on Wednesday, they were said to have discussed the situation in Syria. But hey, to someone who not only hates the president but also distrusts the government, the conclusion that something nefarious was going on is easy to reach. Beck sees the connection, of course:
“Wednesday at 5:35 p.m. the file is altered. This is unheard of, this is impossible in the timeline due to the severity of the charge….You don’t one day put a 212 3B charge against somebody with deportation, and then the next day take it off. It would require too much to do it. There are only two people that could revoke the deportation order — the director of the NTC (sic) could do it after speaking with each department, the FBI, the ATC, etc. — which is impossible to do in such a short period of time, — or, somebody at the very highest levels of the State Department could do it. We don’t have any evidence to tell you which one did it.”
Um, maybe that’s because NObody did it, you supercilious nitwit. Oh, and the claim that Al-Harbi is a “very, very bad man” as Beck claimed last week? Yeah, that’s not true either. And Beck knew it when he said that. He said that he did it to send a message. Oh, he sent a message alright: that he’s willing to drag a man’s name through the mud to bolster his idiotic claims.
Glenn Beck is a narcissistic simpleton. He makes shit up to make money. The wilder and more bonkers the claims, the more he makes. Even after Fox News saw his insanity and fired him and he had to move his deranged rantings to the radio and internet, he still makes money. Some will say that we should ignore him but I disagree. As long as Beck is spouting his lunacy, he has the capacity to harm people. For that reason we need to keep an eye — and ear — on him. Covering his unbalanced ravings is the price I pay for keeping you informed. You’re welcome.
