Now, in response to five different petitions from sane people asking the White House to recognize the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group, the administration has released this passive-aggressive GIF, showing where all those signatures came from:

Except they wanted to silence the WBC with force of law.

Um - some of them were asking that they be recognized as a hate group. Doesn't shut them up. Others were asking that their tax-exempt status be removed. That doesn't shut anyone up either.

I've seen several petitions that call for punishing them, and spoken out against them.
