ElChapo was just the latest. You will note that drugs are still coming in by the ton. The US stopped a few tons on boats last week. ElChapo was replaced and when the next one is caught, he will be replaced. The drug lords are just businessmen. Users are just a customer base. The illegal drug industry merely provides a product for consumers. If they quit taking it, the cartels will suffer. The harm is not providing drugs, it is those who use them. I do not take drugs. They can drop a bale of cocaine on my porch and I would throw it away. It all changes if I decide to start using it.
Trump is an idiot who is doing harm to the nation and the world. He is installing unqualified judges to lifetime jobs whose function is to push justice way right. He is destroying NATO and making our long term allies into strangers. He is turning to despots as friends . He installed right wing idiots on the Supreme court. His damage will continue long after he dies.

I totally agree.

Trump is worse than the illicit drug industry.

I think one of the biggest damages he has caused is reversing climate change action. You never get that back. It's just that much more warming and it comes on quicker. Allowing autos to pollute more hurts the habitat. We have to reduce CO2 emissions just to get the level to stabilize and stop rising. And it's already too high.

We really need to do more than simply stabilize it. We need to reduce CO2 levels. We need a concerted effort, not deniers having arguments.

Hi Politalker,

I'd say Pablo Escobar is still more notorious than El Chapo, not to split hairs. Trump has been good for the country. However, irrational hatred of Trump has been very bad for many liberals. It has become akin to a mental illness in my opinion.

I have to disagree. If we destroy our economy in the name of CO2 emission reduction, it does nothing to mitigate global warming when countries like China and India don't follow suit. We are just going to have to adapt to a changing climate. Hopefully future technology will help, but it's not feasible right now to get rid of fossil fuels.

China is working hard to slash its pollution. They are way head of us in solar panels and nuclear plant construction. There are more jobs, by far, being created in the alternative energy field. There are great profits to be made in alt energy. It would be stupid for us to allow energy companies and their lobbying power to keep us from a profitable and cleaner future.

Trump is repairing the damage and destruction, not causing it. The only thing he has destroyed is your politically correct orthodoxy, which is in its final death throes.

When you say pollution, are you referring to CO2? CO2 is a natural byproduct of all living organisms. It's absurd to characterize it as "pollution". The US is not much of a polluter if you're talking about real pollution.

Almost all fossil fuel pollution. That is real pollution. Just drop by a coal plant if you do not understand. We can add plastics to the equation since there is no animal or land free from them. Fossil fuel particulates impact lungs and overall health. They result from burning coal and oil. Noxious gases include sulfer dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and chemical vapors. Of course you have to include tobacco smoke.

I understand just fine. We have far stricter emission standards on our power plants than China and India. We need to burn fossil fuels to maintain our standard of living. Why don't you personally stop using energy and live like a person from the 18th century to show how committed you are?

Makes sense that you would have to find a way to dismiss the bona fide objections of the other party. How easy it must be for you to believe that anyone who doesn't see it your way must be unable to think clearly. Hatred is always irrational. I don't hate President Trump. Actually, I feel sorry for him. I'm not a billionaire, but I can be happy and enjoy life. I've got lots of great friends. President Trump, despite all his wealth, is a very sad and mentally tormented individual. He knows he's got a messed up mind, and has said so. His narcissism prevents him from getting the extensive mental counseling he needs.

You have failed to establish that taking climate change action will destroy the economy. And it's a tough sell, anyway. There are already more green jobs than coal jobs. China is already taking great strides to reduce emissions.

We are already adapting, despite the objections and foot-dragging of the American right wing. Current and future technology is already helping and those efforts will be ramped up as more is developed. I agree that it is not feasible to get rid of fossil fuels at the present time. I can't envision how we ever will, but hopefully it will happen in the distant future despite our current level of understanding.

Most of the plastic in the worlds oceans comes from the USA.

CO2 may be a naturally occurring gas, but too much of it negatively alters the bioscape. That is why emissions must be controlled and regulated.

Both States have a lower average life expectancy than the national US average, which is lower than that of most European nations.

Actually, deplorable Trump fans smoke at a greater rate than others.

Fossil fuel extraction brought us the BP Oil Spill Disaster in the Gulf Of Mexico, and the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Disaster, among many others. It also releases heavy metals such as Mercury, which are very harmful to humans and babies and other living things.

President Trump has foolishly eased restrictions on fossil fuel pollution. It didn't create any more jobs or 'bring coal back,' but it did allow the polluters to get richer, rewarding them for their financial support of the President's election campaign.
