Don't use ever and pretend you're discussing things properly. Have companies somewhere, sometimes eaten costs? For a while, sure. But maxing profits is what they do. When Trump made a mess of things, places found they could charge nearly double for burgers. I bet, on a good day, you could realize that they all have done it. That is what happens.

No. It causes them to cheat and break laws. That is why Trump has gutted the agencies that hold corporations to the law. He trashed environmental agencies too. Maxing profits should include"as long as you do not break laws and do things against public health and welfare".
