Why does Palin speak with a Canadian accent?

Does that mean she has more forign policy experience?

I want to see her birth certificate!

Just imagine if Obama had chosen a Canadian speaking woman who cannot speak in coherent sentences.

what do you think would happen? The same thing you are doing now?
And then some. And your party would probably start the rumor that she had an illegitimate black child that she gave up for adoption. And also how she KNEW how much the USC trojans SUCK!

If Cawacko left Los Angeles walking east and Soc left New Mexico walking west both at 5mph where would they meet when Cawacko kicks Soc 'square in the nuts'? (credit to Eric Cartman for that line)

I don't know what sort of "accent" she has -- sort of backwoodsy casual poor elocution something, very unprofessional and hardly confidence-inspiring -- but it's not Canadian. Take it from one who knows (and has been teased plenty over my pronunciation of the "ou" words like "about", and "orange", and "sorry", and "produce" (the noun), etc., etc. I haven't said "eh" since crossing the border though, and it wasn't even difficult.

It's more of a mix, like N. Dakota and Canada put together. How a person pronounces a word shouldn't be a problem to the people who elected the President who called Cuba "cuber"... and other quirky pronunciations.

She has the accent of the Wassilia Hillbilly Tribe, Thorn, they are just trying to pin it on Canadians.

You'd barely hear about it.
Remember he chose Biden who makes frequent gaffes, how much do you hear about those? Barely anything.

You've always just seen the world as you want to see it.

Newsweek did a fairly large story last week on the "gaffe problem." CNN, MSNBC & other bastions of the liberal media elite have also done plenty of stories on FDR, Clinton's more qualified than me, calling Obama's ad terrible, etc.

"Barely anything"...please.

It's not her pronunciations but her extremely poor grammar that comes to the fore when she is asked about things that are unfamiliar to her, things that she should have a better handle on as a VP candidate. I really don't detect any of the broader N. Dakota vowels in her speech (of course I'm just going by the movie Fargo), and don't detect any of the Canadian idiomatic speech such as what you'd most likely hear in Colorado during televised interviews with hockey players. (BTW who is broadcasting the NHL games this season anyway?)

Let's put it a different way, it pales in comparison to the negative coverage Palin is getting. Would you disagree with that?

I'd agree with that. But I don't think Biden's dumb gaffes are comparable at all to Palin's clear "not ready for primetime" lack of knowledge....
Well, what governor has foreign policy knowledge (Richardson is all that comes to mind for me)? I'd hate to see the nation's choice of presidents limited to Washington senators simply because Governor's have not much foreign policy knowledge/experience.
You've already expressed admiration for Clinton as prez, he was a former governor, I can't imagine he had much in the way of foreign policy experience/knowledge when he took office and he was the prez, not the vice-prez.

Clinton was a wonk; he knew the issues & could talk about them. Obama can talk about the issues. I'm sure any governor that McCain had in mind (Ridge, etc.) knew & could talk about the issues.

Palin didn't know the Bush Doctrine, talked about Putin & airspace & otherwise - to any objective observer- has almost no idea what she is talking about. It's alarming. It doesn't approach the level of Biden's gaffes by a longshot. McCain made a reckless choice, a gimmick - she is not ready to be President, at all.

No she isn't ready. But why is Biden always praised for his foreign policy knowledge, he voted for Iraq and he has made saber rattling against Pakistan, a nuclear ally (albeit not a great ally but still). It's a fair question to ask just how well has experience played out in past action?

Let's be clear here... a "gaffe" is when you say something valid, but it has the unintended consequence of being somewhat offensive, or politically incorrect.... Like; "You can't go into a convenience store without having a slight Indian accent." ...that was a "gaffe" and Biden is famous for those.

When you lament endlessly on how FDR went on television during the Great Depression, that is beyond being a simple "gaffe" ...that is even beyond Dan Quayle's idea of how to spell "potato" ...that is just pure uneducated stupidity on a grand scale.

Palin doesn't "lack knowledge" at all. I think her biggest problem right now, is the McCain campaign handlers. They have probably filled her head with all kinds of absolute shit, things she mustn't say, things she should avoid talking about, and things she should try to always get in, when she does speak. IF they would just let Palin be Palin, she would be much better. In any event, I don't think you can very well criticize her for "dumbness" compared to the unprecedented bar set by Joe Biden thus far. She has not said anything remotely close to being as utterly stupid and uneducated as Biden, and so far, she hasn't managed to offend any entire group of people with famous 'gaffes' or off-color commentary.
