Will reform spell the end of the GOP?

Apparently almost all Republicans are fully committed to obstructing the nascent health care reform legislation that has emerged from three House committees and the Senate health committee.

When Democrats unilaterally pass the final law and President Obama signs it, the public will see the disgraceful extent of the Republican campaign to deny the voters the change they demand.

As the new law is implemented and millions begin benefitting, the voters will react to the GOP's mass deception by rejecting them in the 2010 midterms.

Some Blue Dogs may not escape the wrath of the electorate. If so-called "conservative" Dems share the fate of their GOP cousins, the ruling party will be further strengthened when ideological progressives replace the weak-willed Blue Dogs.

How many Republicans will be left?

I seriously hope the Republicans go back to the Goldwater days. I liked their style much better then.

We do need a system of checks and balances, when one side rules we all lose in my opinion, i need to state that for the benefit of some.

There could be a third party, perhaps a position to the left of the radical rightwing Republicans could appeal to enough voters to give us some competition.

As it is, it could be decades before the stain of Bushism is finally eradicated.

It began with Reagan and been continued through all the administration, not just Bush, but it did get really bad during the Bush reign! I hope Jeb stays away!

Personally I think the whole Bush administration should have been imprisoned for war crimes, treason and malfeasance.

But President Obama wants to let the past alone.

So, did Pelosi and all the other Dem wussies!

The Spaniards don't want the Bushies. Look how quickly they voted their own BBLs out of power after the Madrid bombing.

That's certainly a risk that Republicans take for their unified opposition. It's clearly evident now the bipartisan cooperation of health care reform will not happen. That's a shame but also a political reality. If Democrats take advantage if their strong political position and pass health care reform with out Republican support and the program works (that's a big if right now), then it would certainly hurt Republicans because many people will perceive them as having placed a narrow special interest ahead of the nations best interest and that would undoubtably hurt them politically. Considering the deep hole they have all ready dug them selves into, that's a big ouch but it would hardly spell the end of the GOP. That's hyperbole.

with the mood of the American people right now and the way they saw the Hugo Obama and the Democrats wanted to ram this bill through before anyone got a chance to see what was in it.. the Dems. are threatening to go it alone as it is. the Republicans would be smart to sit this one out...

this will be the Hugo Obama and Democrats baby and they will be thrown out with bath water when the time comes..can't wait.

The only thing that will spell full doom for the Republicans is for corporate America to lose it's hold on the media and govt. Isn't going to happen. Wel will always have a segment of our population evil or insane enough to support the Republican party.

Just wow. The bridge between right and left is as wide now as it ever was during the Bush years.

You have idiots like usc genuinely convinced that all Republicans are evil or stupid, and you have idiots like meme genuinely convinced of the same for Democrats.
