New Hampshire GOP Gov. Chris Sununu, a potential presidential candidate, says a win 'ain't gonna happen' if Republicans can't attract independents: 'I get nervous about 2024'

New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, spoke out against some of the ideological divisions within the party on Friday, admitting that he was "nervous" about the White House contest next year.

While speaking at the annual conference of the National Rifle Association, Sununu, a fourth-term governor who is a broadly popular figure in the Granite State, said that Republicans would have to win support among a wide swath of voters in order to win in 2024 — especially among the critical bloc of independent voters who often decide the outcomes of races up and down the ballot.

And Sununu, who has been critical of former President Donald Trump's efforts to win the GOP presidential nomination next year, was blunt on what he foresaw as a potential problem for the party.

At this point, Republicans are losing some more moderate Republicans, who cannot bring themselves to vote for either party.

It says a lot about conservatives that Donald Trumpf is the most popular and beloved Republican politician of the 21st century.

He's right but that cuts both ways. In a Two-Party System, most Independents will vote for one of the two major contenders. Therefore, the side that pisses them off or scares them the least will probably win.

Democrats have been telling the GOP that for decades. Not all independents are stupid enough to vote for democrats. I am an example as I am a registered independent

I agree 100%. I’m gearing up for democratic control if nothing changes.

So people are going to vote for war and inflation and an open border and higher taxes and a green agenda that is hurting the middle class and making democrat mega donors even richer? Keep believing that

The GOP is the party of conservatives not those hateful liberals that call themselves moderate

It is going to be an odd couple of years coming up.

Agreed. Still, it will be the 40% of the voting public, the Independents, who will decide the next election just like they decided all the previous ones the past 20 years.

The WOKE revolution will likely have successfully consolidated power by the time the election takes place, making the result of the election wholly irrelevant.
