Wind topples part of Trump’s ‘impenetrable’ border wall

Of course, if the president is going to keep this going, he might want to prioritize wind-resistant barriers.

Newly installed panels from the US border wall fell over in high winds Wednesday, landing on trees on the Mexican side of the border.

Fake news. That part of the wall was under construction, dufus.

There are several things wrong about the wind wall story.

That part of the border (Calexico) already had a wall. It was bigger than the wall it was being replaced by. So trump is so eager to get his name on something, he had a bigger wall pulled down and replaced by a littler wall.

The people on site say they asked to have construction halted due to high winds, and were told that only the President could order a halt in construction. If a construction is dangerous, people on the ground should be allowed to halt construction. Luckily, it fell on the Mexican side, because if it fell on the American side, construction workers could have died. trump tries to micromanage things he really should not.

A CBP spokesperson says there was no damage. Well, obviously, the wall was damaged, so he is wrong there. But also Mexican trees were damaged. At least three of them were killed. Anyone who has ever done any property development knows that killing someone else's trees is a nightmare. They take forever to replace, unless you want to pay a lot of money. So you kill a 40 year old tree, you can easily be spending tens of thousands to replace it, even though the owner paid almost nothing but time to grow them. It cannot be better that this is an international incident started by a president who can best be described as offensive.

The Mexican landowners can sue the US Government in our independent courts, and would probably win. Fighting them would cost the US taxpayers millions more. The Mexican Government will gladly pay for the suit, knowing they would get paid back if they won, and out of spite even if they lose.

If that wall was not secure ... I’m not surprised it blew over . The wind in So. Cal on Wednesday was unreal !

Blew my large SUV all over the road .

Such as the ones you are making up right here.
That part of the border (Calexico) already had a wall. It was bigger than the wall it was being replaced by.
Nope. The new wall is actually larger. You are hallucinating again.
So trump is so eager to get his name on something, he had a bigger wall pulled down and replaced by a littler wall.
Nope. His name is not on the wall either.
The people on site say they asked to have construction halted due to high winds, and were told that only the President could order a halt in construction.
Nope. The people on site halted construction to repair the damage. No one was working on the section blown over.
If a construction is dangerous, people on the ground should be allowed to halt construction.
Construction was halted during high winds. It usually is.
Luckily, it fell on the Mexican side, because if it fell on the American side, construction workers could have died.
No construction workers were near the section that blew over.
trump tries to micromanage things he really should not.
Trump is a proper noun. It is capitalized. He is not micromanaging anything about the wall.
A CBP spokesperson says there was no damage.
An opinion. Trees stopped the wall from completely going over, but the trees were of course somewhat damaged.
Well, obviously, the wall was damaged, so he is wrong there.
The wall panel wasn't damaged. Only the footing. The footing will be removed, another one poured, and the wall will be reset in the new footing.
But also Mexican trees were damaged.
At least three of them were killed.
Meh.
Anyone who has ever done any property development knows that killing someone else's trees is a nightmare. They take forever to replace, unless you want to pay a lot of money.
Irrelevant.

Trump didn't cause the windstorm.
The Mexican landowners can sue the US Government in our independent courts, and would probably win.
1) They do not have jurisdiction.
2) The Mexican people do not have access to our courts while living in Mexico.
3) The wall has an easement.
4) The accident was caused by weather, not Trump.
Fighting them would cost the US taxpayers millions more.
Nope. See above.
The Mexican Government will gladly pay for the suit, knowing they would get paid back if they won, and out of spite even if they lose.
The Mexican government (government is not a proper noun, it is not capitalized) does not have authority to sue the United States, just as we do not have authority to sue Mexico.

Why was it under construction? That is a serious question. They knew the winds would be dangerous, so why do construction that day in particular?

No construction crew was around the panels that blew over. Construction was halted by the crew during the windstorm anyway. The cement simply had not fully cured yet.

Thank bananas that it was only trees that were damaged; what if it had fallen on cars (with ppl inside) or on pedestrians on the Mexico side?

Trump is a motherfucking tree killer!..........so much bullshit in a single post.......with no links to anything.......why are demmycunts such stupid posters?......

Thank bananas that it was only trees that were damaged; what if it had fallen on cars (with ppl inside) or on pedestrians on the Mexico side?

It basically fell into a road. The Mexicans had to divert traffic to avoid it.

Construction has to sometimes stop because of the weather. trump claims he is a developer, so he should have known that.
