Without president

FUCK THE POLICE

911 EVERY DAY
I've often thought that the US presidential system was just a stopgap between monarchism and republicanism. In fact, it's based on the old British system, where the king executed laws (and made up his own), the parliament passed them (and usually had them ignored), and the judges judged cases. In fact, that's kind of what the US system, and all systems based on the US system, have devolved into. Putting so much power in the hands of one basically unchecked man is a bad idea.

Why don't we just go with the flow, join with all the developed nations in the world, and get a parliamentary system? The prime minister doesn't even have to be very strong, and we could have an elected figurehead president. We could get one of those fancy proportional representation systems. We could also dump idiots like Bush at a moments notice. I can rarely think of times in history where that wouldn't have been a benefit. I'd still support a seperate judiciary, but honestly, what's the point in having an entire brach devoted to executing laws? I don't think any presidents ever been elected because of his proposals to execute laws very effectively. Just look at any presidents platform. They have a LEGISLATIVE agenda, and are just using the platform as a way to push around the legislator. It's like having a legislative house with one big important legislator who controls the rest.

I say give up on it.
