I watched most of the haft-time show with my grandkids. They thought the dancers in white looked like tampons... I don't get it, but they thought it was enormously funny. They made snarky remarks about the bathrooms at their high school, but I didn't catch the details.

It embarrassed my 14 year old grandson hugely. He was very angry about school tampons for some reason.

Hey, I don't want to assume. You could have meant Southern Baptist for all I know...


Anyway, I was trying to get them to understand, and at least be conversant in football, and the super bowl, for the sake of having a connection to wider Americana, and a subject for conversation that is not confrontational. You can only change the subject to the weather so many times.

I've been trying to teach them how to navigate the minefields of political correctness for a few years now. But they didn't find anything the slightest bit entertaining in foot ball or the half-time rap (Crap! their words) show.

They did like the Doritos commercial, and the seal, the tongue out of body, and a couple of others. But they hated the AI commercials with a passion. I guess fear of being replaced by software is very real to high school students today.

They were also convinced that Taylor Swift being present cursed the Chickens (Chiefs). A few years ago, the 15 year old grand daughter was a swift fan...
