Yahweh the Storm God

There are some Christians on this forum who have met this fact with shock, disbelief and denial. One even told me I was going to burn in hell for posting it.

Guess what, boys and girls? Your Christian god - Yahweh, Jehovah, LORD, the god of Abraham, or whatever you call him - was no more than a minor storm/war god in the pantheon of gods. The son of the top god El, just one of 70, finally replaced El as the top dog. He even stole El’s woman, Asherah, and took her for his own.

Your polytheistic religion is even mentioned in your holy book - Genesis 1:26 - “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness….”

You see, Christian boys and girls, the god of Abraham - yours, the Jews, the Muslims - isn’t this eternal god that has existed forever only to create man and the universe. Just one of many invented gods, not unlike the Greek and Roman gods, that happened to morph into this single god you worship today.

There are any number of references. Here’s just one. Educate yourselves.

I find it interesting. I’m finding that many Christians don’t want to know at all.

When one looks closely enough at any religion it's always covered in mankind's fingerprints. The only "saving grace" older religions have is that their "history" is so distant and clouded by age and loss of knowledge over the millennia that believers can get away with just wild hand-waving about their God.

I mean everyone pretty much knows things like Mormonism and Scientology are wholly made up. We know this because their origins are within recent human history and we can see the sausage being made.

But older religions can hide behind "ignorance" about where their religion originated as if it would be any different....wholly man-made like every religion we have ever seen.

But this is nothing new. I've read about it before.

So let me ask you then:

Do any gods exist...or are there no gods?

It is likely there is a structure of ever increasingly powerful sentient beings in the universe culminating with the all at infinity.
Can you flesh out the "It is likely..." of that sentence substantively...or is it just something you "believe" to be so?

Everything is theory. Nobody knows anything for sure. I believe it is likely from various readings in religion, mysticism and paranormal over the years.
