Jobless Figures Pose Social, Political Threat for Obama, Dems

until it turns, and it's going to turn good. Then they'll say the stimulus plan had everything to do with it. Libs ignore the business cycle.

I'm just hoping we can keep a second stimulus away from the legislators, at least until the first one does more than trickle slowly. We need to get some of that first stimulus into the economy before anybody should be considering any new legislation. At the very least. It's insane to begin talking about new stimulus when the first new stimulus has had no chance at all to have any effect. At this time any stimulus we've had has been from the fricking asinine TARP crap.

"At this time any stimulus we've had has been from the fricking asinine TARP crap"

You mean the fricking asinine crap that kept more big banks from failing outright and likely kept the market from dropping below 6,000?

That asinine crap?

But we do know that the economic assumptions most folks were operating under at the time the second (not first) stimulus was passed were extremely optimistic. It doesn't take much to figure that the stimulus bill was too small to have the desired impact based on what we now know.

Of course, then there is the Republican Party that thinks that not only is the stimulus bill not "working" but that it has not "worked" and that what the economy really needs now are tax cuts.

No doubt he choose great people and he knew how to delegate and manage. I laugh at the posters here who pull shit out of their asses to denigrate the greatest President of the 20th Century.

With such a glowing endorsement from a respected chap such as yourself then how could i possibly disagree?

At least you recognize where it comes from. Yes I mean that crap. My point is that first we should insist that the first stimulus actually start more than trickling before we start talking about any new stimulus. This brand new stimulus hasn't even had a shot at getting dirt on the paint job and we're already talking about a shiny new one with NO2...

too small?!?!?!

should we up the next one to 20 or 30 trillion then?

news flash!!!! the stimulus is NOT WORKING!!!!!!! It has NOT WORKED!!!!!!

employment numbers should be the readily noticable identifier that the stimulus and bailouts have failed completely.

About a month or two ago we were hearing about all the jobs that Obama had saved right from the mouth of the messiah himself. Now, we hear how it was "worse than we thought" and nothing about all those jobs he's saving. His fricking stimulus hasn't even gotten out yet and they are talking about another stimulus!

What happened? He assigned Biden to "lead" up that effort... Instead he's (Biden) out making his mouth write checks his brain can't cash and nothing "stimulating" seems to be happening. Does a mouth that big dam up the economic waters or is the Stimulus really just the re-elect Obama fund?

I was thinking 1 trillion ought to do it, but I defer to those more knowledgeable than me on the matter.

See what I mean?

That's astounding.

You should really exempt yourself from any kind of economic/financial discussion.

Of course with 5% spent the stimulus hasn't had a chance to work. The uneducated can whale all they want. As too a second stimulus, the genius's in DC took too long on this one and while an economy still in recession come late summer will have the libtards screaming the Kaynes yelp it ain't going to happen.

How are the two mutually exclusive? I know you aren't really this stupid so why do you play stupid?

And you may recall that at the time the "saved jobs" discussion took place there was plenty of discussion of the fact that the unemployment rate was much higher than projected. Then again, knowing you I'm not surprised you conveniently forgot about that.

The one that was "rushed through Congress?" That one?

See what I mean?
So counting TARP and the Obama Stimulus, we need another Trillion? 2.4 Trillion total? Will that be enough or at the end of the year will the 2nd trickle-down Obama Stimulus package still be waiting in the background unspent as they vote for another because the "saved" jobs aren't covering for the actual job loss anymore? Ready to flush into the system just as election cycles begin to run...

Because team Obama are not all entirely retarded.
Saved Jobs will be a noose around his political neck if the economy isn't booming in 2011. Think "no new taxes from Daddy Bush". Just like dems hammered it after asking for the taxes neocons will continually say saved jobs while showing millions of job lost figures.
Obama owns it now, and the time for bullshit spin on toilet job numbers is over.
Help me out my turbo-lib tard buddies. What major industry is he not attacking, and if he's attacking even 20% of the economy how do we grow through that???

The "saved" jobs numbers are just made up idiocy, and they stopped embarrassing themselves with them as we started creeping into double digit unemployment. People aren't getting fooled by that "or saved" turn of phrase into believing that stimulus that isn't spent is somehow responsible for "saving" jobs and that higher than expected unemployment numbers put to lie the "saved" jobs guess.

So long as some people are employed I guess you can say you've "saved" their job.

Colorado is doing better than many, but not quite as good as Minnesota. I'm glad that they were wise enough to see what was coming and react properly.
