Jasmine Crockett called Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, ‘Governor Hot Wheels’

No one has done more to lower the bar on civility in America than Trump.

I'd challenge anyone to dispute that. That American discourse is where it is now is something we can all agree is sad. It's like everyone is part of the problem now.

But Trump set the bar - THIS bar. We've been told that Trump's behavior - his "mean tweets" and the rest - doesn't matter, because it's all about policy. But I'd contend it absolutely does matter. The President has this role, they have this power to set the tone.

And he has, and it's not good. We can complain about individual reflections of that, like Crockett's comment, which was absolutely wrong. But it's all just reflections.

You cannot complain about Trump and ignore the things that Crockett , Biden, Harris , Hilary or dozens of other Democrats have said is hypocritical.

I'm not ignoring Crockett's comment - I was genuinely dismayed to see that. I like her in general, but she gets way too personal. She did that w/ MTG, too.

And without doubt - political discourse has never been high road. For most of our history, it has been rancorous and divisive.

I just think Trump has taken it to an unprecedented level. I've really never seen someone like Trump when it comes to reliance on personal attacks. He basically turns on everyone - even loyalists and people who work for him. And he gets so personal, on a dime.

Crockett is playing a street tough part. She actually comes from money and is a lawyer so she isn't as dumb as she appears it is just an act. Her district covers a low income black large portion of Dallas.

The Dems have been name calling for a long time. Trump is just one of the first to call them names back.

Yeah. To me this is an "in the moment" kind of thing. If someone I knew was doing this I would be "uncool, man" and if it was a kid of mine they'd get a lecture about empathy. Otherwise I am numb. I won't be upset over some random congresswoman being a small minded person any more than I was when Trump mocked some other dude.

The ONLY thing that bothers me is Crockett is a ethnic minority and I'm sure she does not want ethnic slurs used on her but she is slurring a handicapped person. Politics I guess :dunno:
