To clarify....my high school had right around 3,000 students. You'd be ok with 6-9 of them dying from measles when there is a safe and effective vaccine.

There was a time in this country when, despite political and religious differences, we all agreed that kids attending public schools must be vaccinated. Protecting our children from preventable and sometimes fatal illnesses was so important that our parents went with us when our schools had mass vaccination clinics in the gym, and they got their polio and DPT boosters too.

Fast forward to the 21st Century. Now we have morons like RFK Jr. and far too many MAGATs who think that guns matter more than our children, and parental rights not to vaccinate have precedence over other parents' rights to not have their kids exposed to either bullets or pathogens.

With that we have the strange mentality the Internet fostered, a kind of Dark Ages. People fashionably believe in things and instead of rationally believing them and it's become fashionable for some to think vaccines are harmful.

Agree. If you don't want to get your kid vaccinated, that's unfortunate, but that should be your right. That doesn't mean that your kid has the right to risk the lives of students around them.

Yep a lot of liberal mothers in the Pacific North West don't believe in vaccinating their kids. When measles broke out in 2019 it was in their communities. The moron that said that the minute amount of mercury in vaccines was causing autism to rise did unimaginable harm. They removed it and yet autism continues to climb.

If you don't vax your children and one dies from a preventable disease like tetanus or measles or polio, you should be charged with neglect at the very least. You should also not be allowed to enroll them in public school.

A while back Trump threatened to withhold federal funding from public schools that mandated vaccinations. What could possibly go wrong with that? He's simply pandering to the deplorable garbage idiots.

Holding parents legally accountable, for not getting their kids vaccinated, is a tough situation.

I completely agree with holding them accountable if they don't get medical care for their kids when they need it. So, if they got the measles, for example, and became extremely ill, I think they are accountable in that situation If they don't get help.
 
Over 10 percent of those getting measles are hospitalized for treatment. It is not just the deaths that are the problem. If a pregnant woman is exposed, it can result in a miscarriage. Kids can get brain swelling and other serious consequences.
Trump and RFK are correct. Their followers will not get measles or complications. Rightys should not be vaccinated.
