If tariffs are bad when Trump does it, why aren't they bad when other countries impose tariffs on us?

I have been told by the talking heads that tariffs will destroy the economy. Why haven't the countries that have imposed tariffs on the United States destroyed their economies?

Surely one of the Marxist economic experts on JPP can provide a coherent answer.

I know Scowlwoman won't be able to, she has been reduced to just flipping the bird which I assume she thinks is a substitute for rational debate.
 
Not all Tariffs are bad.

A huge worldwide shock and awe Tariff campaign is not okay for our economy. It is very likely to push the American dollar out of being the world wide standard. Being wishy washy about them harms our creditability.

Parts and standards of worldwide products are set to comply with American law and SOP, that is likely to change if we are no longer the standard. It also harms our system. Until now, the world bends to our standards.

But, no not all tariffs are bad. However, Trumppers seem blind to the huge advantages we get. Our economy is not a manufacturing economy and in many ways that is very good for us.

America has the worlds best standards of living and there is a reason for that.

If China and Europe work together they will end up with that benefit.

Ballance is the key.


There is a reason the iphone became the standard for the world, there is a reason it was developed by an American company. There is a reason the most innovative and world changing products are developed by American companies.

Apple has a 60% margin on its iPhones. Guess you are more interested in greedy corporate profits.

BTW, you could have simplified your statement to say that for marxists like you tariffs are only bad if Trump does it. That is essentially what you are saying

I am not defending the manufacture practice of Apple, but do you not see it is the goal of the Felon to bring slave labor back to the United States?

In your imagination you pretend this is true, you want to respond to whatever I say with your canned response. Even when it is far from what I wrote, anyone with a brain can see it.

Id support an effort to stop importing products that are made with slave labor, that is not the goal here and you know it. If it was, the tariff could have been target to that, and would have received broad support.

You never support anything Trump does. Of course you don't have the brain cells to know why you oppose it. You have to wait to be told by your handlers how to respond. IT matters little to you that I can pull video clips of people like Bernie Sanders and Nancy Pelosi from 20 years ago sounding just like Trump does today. But, I am sure you will ignore that as well.

I do, I support getting rid of Daylight Savings Time, and his prison reform.

Its working out well. Trump caved on his tariff policy and his popularity is in the toilet. He is quickly on the way to lame duck. They are already talking about who will run in the Republican primaries.

Not all tariffs are bad, all countries have them, but randomly levying tariffs, escalating tariffs, without considering the opportunity cost is absurd and self defeating

As I said previously, the US enjoys the healthiest and largest economy in the world, unemployment is at 4%, and wages are amongst the highest on the planet, so jeopardizing what we have on a hunch is insane

Yep countries like UK, France, Germany, Canada etc. etc. do want to stop using Tariffs. Yet When we use tariffs it is suddenly bad. If tariffs were bad why are they glad to get rid of them?
