Atheist conclusions about the historicity of the resurrection

Right. People aren't lying

Next, you are on thin ice trying to explain how dozens of people all had the same hallucination. Seems highly improbable.
Lying Is a Power Tool

What "dozens of people"? That doesn't add up. They would have told others to come and see if they weren't believed. All Judaism would have been converted on the spot.

Christofascists could say that their imaginary (and profitable) witnesses were afraid of being crucified by the Romans for spreading stories. Why would they care about that, since either they'd go straight to Paradise or get resurrected themselves? Same goes for all the witnesses to Jesus's "miracles."

The only NT writings we have, where we actually know who wrote them, were written by Paul. We don't know who wrote any of the gospels or any of the books that were claimed to have been written by Paul, but weren't. We know that the stories written about Jesus childhood were made up to give legitimatecy to the claims being made about him. If the gospel writers didn't.ake up stories about seeing Jesus after his crucifixion, then the story just got modified/made up somewhere up stream from the writers.

I realize this, but I am not questioning anyone's faith. I'm simply telling him that much of his effort is totally wasted. He's working double-time to convince himself that his beliefs are so very true.

What's wrong with this picture?
nothing wrong really.

idiots abound in this world.

acceptance is key.

be like water.

New Testament scholarship is a legitimate academic field of literary criticism, and even agnostic and atheist professors are employed in this field.

You still haven't answer Hume's question. All you did was your usual "BUT OTHER PEOPLE SAY IT!"

Try debating a point using your OWN knowledge rather than relying EXCLUSIVELY on quoting other people and acting as if their quote makes you smart.

ftfy

So you're only interested in trolling and derailing my threads.

Another lie. If you were HONEST (ever) you would note that I often respond substantively and intellectually to your drivel. That causes you to start attacking me and whining. That leads to me responding to you in kind.

IF you actually have ever read the Bible perhaps you can remember Luke 6:31

Don't worry. I know you're googling that verse as we speak. ;)

"Atheist New Testament scholar" totally invalidates anything the moron is trying to say

Not totally. There are some like Ehrmann who calls himself an "agnostic atheist" (HERE) comes from a place of having been an evangelical as well as having training at I believe Yale Seminary (or some high level seminary) and he writes about Christianity from an understanding and decent way but also is willing to question some of the "received wisdom".

He would be closest to being an "atheist new testament scholar".

@Cypress probably read the dust jackets on a couple of his books and he will mention Ehrmann, but usually only when someone disagrees with him and he can't muster an actual reasoned response he'll just throw out that "Bart Ehrmann says .....".

The New Testament scholar posted in the OP is atheist, as is well known atheist-agnostic New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman.

Why wouldn't a well informed person such as yourself not realize that the most important literary collection in the history of western civilization would invite scholarship from non-believers?

now you should try reading him! He's a good author. It's so much more than just the dust jackets you read.

But you've said so many times you don't like wading through a lot of words. So I'm sure books are off the list for you. LOL
