Now what?

Taichiliberal

Shaken, not stirred!
So the neocon driven GOP, the oathers, the birthers, the tea baggers, etc., are all preening and crowing about the return of the GOP in the House.

Now what?

If the supporters of the forementioned expect massive changes, then they should remember.....the GOP has stated that their ONLY priority is to keep Obama from re-election. So basic governing be damned. From now until November 2011 it will be frivolous supeonas, filibusters, and futile attempts to repeal what achievments the Obama administration have made (yes, futile....because they DON'T have the vote to repeal the current health care reforms before they take affect).

Yes, the Party of NO will be in full swing.....and what do they have to offer in return? Privatization of Social Security? Oh yeah, that would have worked out well in 2004-2008! Repeal of Health Care reform? What's the alternative....cross state jurisdiction with the ability to drop/deny clients to save buck....Raising rates without rhyme or reason? Repealing oversight of Wall St. and the banks? Gee, I guess people LIKE paying for the failed and corrupt action of investment banks and losing their 401K. And next time, let our major industries fail and plunge the country into a depression instead of TEMPORARILY taking charge.

Oh well, at least the key tea baggers loonies didn't get in, the Senate is still holding....but I sure as hell am glad I don't live in Kentucky, because it's going to be real interesting when some joker starts a "white only" policy at their place of business and Rand Paul defends that, repeating his disagreement with the amendments to the Constitution.

Yep, as the old saying goes.....be careful what you wish for! :palm:

Well, lets see....With a small majority in the House of Representatives, the GOP will try to do what the Democrats could not do while owning all 3 branches of government, the Presidency, House and Senate, with and overwhelming super majority of votes, running every committee with majority votes, giving them the power to DO ANYTHING they wanted.....

so sit back and wait for the miracles, pinhead.

Now what, indeed.....

Another tiny bright spot is that Angle and Tancredo got shown the door.

I truly believe that this week's events are going to be a positive for the Democratic Party even if they are bad for the country.

Good luck to Speaker Boehner trying to heard the cats that are the new majority in the US House of Representatives. It will be nearly impossible and it's only a microcosm of the Republican Party right now. They are so entirely fractured that there is no way they will be able to put up a plausible nominee in 2012 that can both win the nomination and the general election.

I am willing to lay money down right now that Barack Obama is going to be a two term president. Besides having a fractured party with no one to unite it there is the problem of sheer demographics. The tea party is nearly all white, mostly male and older. The wave that carried the President into the White House, younger, nonwhite and female voters are all still there and he's still polling strongly among them. Granted, they stayed home Tuesday but when it's their guy at the top of the ticket they will turn out in droves just like they did the last time.

It doesn't feel like it now to either side but this is going to be an opportunity for the Democratic Party. It's only a matter of time.

Well, Karl Rove's would disagree with you, it is a gateway...

A gateway to what? No Colorado Governor is going to run for President and there is no way Tancredo would get anywhere if he ever thought about running.

Well, other governors have run for President and been very successful! and Rove sees them as a gateway to the Presidency! Colorado may be the exception, but there are still other states and he plans to hone them! buy them, whatever you wish to call it!

hello and I hope it isn't bad for the country, I truly do! I would like to see some change and turn around and at this point, I don't care where it comes from, just so it comes!

Over the next two years the citizens will benefit from the Democratic plans already in place. Obama played his cards right. Regardless of a stalled Congress health care and financial reforms will start unfolding. Laws will come into effect while the Repubs stamp their feet, unable to stop them.

With Governors running for President I agree with you. More Presidents have been Governors than Congressmen. I'm just saying Tancredo had zero chance of running for President even if had won the Colorado Governor's seat.

I agree with you on the second part but why do you think no Colorado gov would run for president?

Edit: Never mind, I just read your comment to Rana.

Yes, the Party of NO will be in full swing....
I think The Obama of No will be in full swing: no to rescinding ObamaCare, NO to making the Bush Tax cuts permanent, NO to reducing tHe budget, NO to paying down the debt, NO to eliminating corporate taxes, NO to jobs...

Have you ever considered just speaking for yourself and refrain from putting words into Mr. Rove's mouth in a pathetic effort to smear him with the silly shit manufactured by your imagination?

It is not manufactured, if you READ something besides you smear sites, you might learn a thing or two. start with the Nation's articles on Rove and see if you can put the pieces together or go to his websites and see for yourself! They are bragging about it! I do speak for myself, but I also have to inform you of the news happening outside Faux and NewsMax!

Now what, indeed.....

For someone who is constantly calling others "pinhead", you CONSISTENTLY demonstrate how ignorant you are of things, Bravo.

FYI.....the Dems DID NOT have the majority voting numbers in the Senate for a slam dunk vote (even with Lieberman). And unlike the Shrub era, the Dems DID NOT control the legislative, judicial and the executive.....or are you so damned stupid that you missed the Citizens United decision by the SCOTUS and WHO were the yay votes on that?

A miracle would be YOU getting your head out of Karl Rove's ass, Bravo....either that or growing a pair and actually debate me and others on this board with honesty and proper knowledge, instead of the usual Bravo BS that is all supposition and conjecture.

Well, you got what you wanted, genius....now let's see if you like a rehash of the brilliance of the Gingrich tactic that failed the country once before.

What history are you reading? With 60 votes the Ds could end any filibuster that existed, and that they had. Never did Bush have such a luxury, nor did they have a super majority in the House. With the entire legislative sewn up, and the WH, they had almost total carte blanche to do as they wished, so long as it wasn't overturned by the Judicial. (Nothing has been so far.)

Bush had majorities in both houses of Congress for half of his term, the first two years the Senate wasn't R majority, the last two years also were not majority in Congress R...

Newsflash for ya, Damo. The Dems DID NOT have the 60 vote margin from 2006 to 2009 in the Senate.....they came close though. If you recall, that was were the GOP put up an effective stone wall.
