If people are not responsible for part of their health costs then many will "over utilize" the system. This will cause costs to rise and in order to meet budget service will then have to be rationed. Why do liberals want to ration health care?

I am stating that the voucher is indexed to inflation and it's value diminishes significantly over time such that seniors will increasingly be required to spend more and more and more of their own money on health insurance. You can check the CBO report on the plan if you wish which details all of this and even has charts for the visual learners.

The same CBO that tells us there is no inflation? Say it isn't so!

Actually, no. The Bureau of Labor Statistics tracks CPI.

Thanks. Sarcasm needs to have a firm foothold in reality for it to work. It's all good, the government won't give raises because the government flat lies about inflation (sorry I should say they've "improved" reporting). If we used the same reporting requirements as 1979, we'd be a bit above 10% right now. Instead we weight housing heavily and it's lost "just enough" to keep us just about at zero. Bad reporting creates hard times for Seniors living on those SS paychecks.

I never trust the CBO. Garbage in = Garbage out.

It's basically like a liberal human secularist quoting the Bible at a Christian or Rtber desperately trying to find a Buddhist quote that says I should follow whatever dogma he wants me to follow entirely missing that Buddha said not to follow dogma and to question even Buddha.

You speak in the language your audience will lend credence to and understand.

Seems to me that some human secularist understand the Bible better than the Christians who profess to follow it, according to a recent survey and some Buddhist miss the mark, too...or have you found total Enlightenment?

Interestingly, I know the Bible far better than most Christians, I do not however attempt to use it in a weapon to attempt to get them to behave like I think they should. As far as my Enlightenment, it's a path we work towards. Should I reach it I may open a website to spread the word on how I made it so you can follow. How about you? Have you reached some perfection as yet unknown to other humans? Once you get there you can tell me all about it.

The communists found enlightment so its can't be that difficult. Stalin was enlighted which is why he became the most powerful man in the world.

A weapon? or a reminder of their straying off their path, after all, they use it so readily to condemn others, why can not others use the Bible to remind them of the errors of their ways?
Most people who reach the other haven't come back to tell, or I haven't heard of too many making the trip back and I don't believe there is anything knowable beyond death that I will be conscious of in this form.

Perfection is not reachable in my opinion, as a human, but I do try to constantly improve myself, and help others. Do I fail, yes miserably, constantly, but do I give up, no.

I don't think I will have to worry about reading that website, but who knows, you already think you are very close to writing it! :), and I know you view me as not even close, it is one of your faults I have observed, it is called pride...

In politics, almost always a weapon, I'm reminded of Satan quoting verse to Jesus.

Yet, if you reach Enlightenment, like Buddha, would you not tell others how to get there?

Interesting, you really have no idea what I think about anything even after years of talking to each other and even in this assign me a belief rather than listening to what I say.

*So, you believe those who point out Christian misbehavior to them to be like Satan quoting verses to Jesus? Interesting. they can use it against people, but it is Satanic to use it against them. interesting take on the issue.

Yet, if you reach Enlightenment, like Buddha, would you not tell others how to get there?

*I don't think I have to worry about that and people always feel the need to share what they perceive is fulfillment to them. When members of my family were "born of the spirit", they had the need to testify to the world, so i guess it is a human need to share what we feel makes us better. I have yet to find any human I would totally emulate.

*Interesting, Damo, I see you much differently than you see yourself. You profess to be a Buddhist, I see what you post here and observe it to be in conflict at times with what I understand of Buddhism, but maybe I just don't get it, like you said, because as you have stated, I am not a Buddhist. It is the same type of response I get from Christians, Jews and Muslims, I just don' "get it"

Listening to what you say is difficult on a message board, I admit because tone of voice and body language is missing.

I tell people of my enlightenments all the time, haven't you observed that on here! Funny, no one has taken up to following my ways, as of yet!

No, I believe that people who try to use it as a means to tell another how to act politically are much like that. I'm pretty sure I made myself clear and actually stated "in politics" in that part.

I also haven't yet found some human that I think we should all emulate. However, if I did indeed reach enlightenment I am sure I would tell people how I got there, there are many paths, even the Buddha never said his was the only path.

They may, you never know.

While it may "seem" that things I do are "against" what you understand of Buddhism, usually that can be explained that not all Buddhists are the same nor should we all be, each must find what they understand and believe to be right and follow it.

Now we can also lean heavily on the reality that I have never made a claim to perfection nor one of enlightenment, and along with billions of others who pursue this same idea am far from "perfect". The assumption that every Buddhist must act like some other Buddhist is weird to me.

That Niall Ferguson piece is the biggest bunch of horseshit ever. Even Ramesh Ponnuru of the National Review called bullshit on that one. Basically, if you believe that inflation is really at 10%, what you are saying is that the economy contracted by over 7% over the past year. Now, I'm not one to argue that the economy is gangbusters, but 7% contraction just isn't credible. So buy into the bullshit of you want to (as you will) but don't say you weren't warned.

The weighting changes over time for good reason as the percentage of income people spend on things is not static.

Also, on a more general note, I think it's hilarious that you routinely mock the CBO yet you haven't the slightest fucking clue how it does what it does. You basically reject it (and any statistics the government puts out, apparently) because the truth conflicts with your warped worldview.

Strangely, the Republicans cannot figure out what garbage to give the CBO to get the results what they want, or, alternative, the CBO just doesn't work the way you think it works.
