The tax code is progressive. It taxes greater percentages of one's income the more income one makes. That alone helps lessen the effective post-tax income differential. If those tax dollars collected at a higher percentage from higher income people, can be used to fund programs such as LiHEAP (you remember that, don't you... you were the guy who said it didn't benefit people before you said it did....classic flip flop) to help subsidize the incomes of lower income people, that subsidy serves to further lessen the effective income differential between the high income people who pay more in taxes, and the low income people who benefit from the subsidies those tax dollars fund. This isn't politics and it isn't even economics. It is arithmetic.

There you go with that painfully stupid argument; but there are MORE poor now than before the war on poverty began and after spending $20 million to eliminate poverty we still have MORE poor; why do you think that is Commander?

Did LIHEAP raise these people out of poverty Commander? Or are they still poor?

I cannot imagine a more stupid argument than that which claims we need to steal MORE of the wealth from those who create jobs so that the Government can piss it away on programs that do nothing to eliminate poverty. It just defies logic.

Here's another one for you Commander; if we were able to create many more good paying jobs, do you think that would help to reduce poverty in this nation?

no one ever claimed that LiHEAP raised anyone out of poverty. It certainly did make them marginally less poor, however. It paid their heating bill. They benefitted from it...even though you have said they didn't.... then you said they did... and then you tap danced. lol
