14 Days: Kamala Harris has not held a press conference since emerging as presumptive Democratic nominee

Vice President Kamala Harris has gone 14 days without holding a formal press conference since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee as of Sunday.

Harris announced that she had locked up the nomination late on July 22, declaring that she had won commitments of backing from a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month's Democratic National Convention. She has since hit the campaign trail, spoken at various events, and even chatted with reporters here and there, but hasn’t done a formal press conference or wide-ranging interview in the 13 days that have followed.

She also failed to appear at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, where former President Trump made headlines on Wednesday with a heated question-and-answer session. On Thursday, she briefly addressed reporters at Joint Base Andrews as she and President Biden greeted Americans freed from Russia in a massive prisoner swap, including Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich.

"This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances," Harris said. "This is an incredible day."

Harris, who became the likely nominee without receiving a single primary vote when President Biden announced he would step aside last month, has been so elusive that The New York Times published excerpts from an interview she conducted last year to see where her answers "land now."

Much of the Democratic Party — including governors, senators and House members as well as party leaders — quickly coalesced behind Harris following Biden's blockbuster news. But critics have started to take notice that Harris hasn’t faced tough questions since.

National Review senior writer Noah Rothman asked his social media followers on Wednesday, "When is Kamala Harris going to hold a press conference?"

The RNC Research account on X noted on Wednesday that she has only done "teleprompter speeches," and conservative pundit Ben Shapiro said Harris "has not answered ONE difficult question in the last week and a half."...

When was the last time DON-old held a press conference?

Leftist internal polling shows only a "generic democrat" can defeat Trump, not an actual person.

This is also what happened in 2020. Which is why they kept the extreme leftist Biden in the basement while the media lied about him being a moderate.

Will dems fall for it, again?

Check out Megan Thee stallion's song Hisss... That's surely going to be her intro song at the debate...

Just because she isn't / hasn't done press conferences, doesn't mean she's not saying stupid shit. Her latest was yesterday on the tarmac at an airport.

I don't think she said anything stupid. I think she's wrong and gives Biden WAY too much credit.

I know he went to the Black Journalist Convention and Kamala stood them up. And I know he did an interview with Maria recently. Trump LOVES to do interviews. He always has. Kamala is avoiding them. What is she scared of most of the press is on her side. They aren't likely to ask her a hard question. Is she such a light weight that she can't answer softball questions.

They are pretty stupid so it may work.

Four days ago at the NABJ, and it was definitely a hostile setting. You'll never see Harris doing one like that.
It was hostile because Trump is a racist and doesn't respect anyone who doesn't suck his fat ass. He's a blovoating circus barker. Harris will have plenty of tough press events when she feels like it. The bitching, whiny conservative media and voters don't matter to her.
