2 women suicide bombers were not downs syndrome retards.

All jokes aside (really guys? Jokes at the Bush administration? Who the fuck are you arguing with?), leaving now would be a bad idea...we shouldn't be there, but it would be irresponsible to leave without stabilising the region.

The solution is not to leave, the solution is to allow our military to function as a military.

YOu are right in that sense. We can't leave now because our leaving would throw the country into civil war chaos. But HOW MUCH LONGER do we have to prop this country up. And now of course the Turkish military has invaded the north of Iraq and we are saying very little about it.

Agree with you both. As for Down's or other mental conditions, the NYTimes seems to be a bit more even handed:

Worries about insurgents using mentally disabled people as bombers prompted the Iraqi government’s decision this week to begin enforcing a Saddam Hussein-era law to round up beggars and the mentally disabled. Iraqi officials said the mentally disabled would be sent to hospitals while beggars would be taken to the police, foster homes, juvenile institutions or their families.

From your link Kathi.....

I guess this means Bush can't go back to Iraq.
