94.5% Employment is not that bad.

Alright .. we took a pretty tough 1 month hit ..but

Lets consider ... the overall avg. Unemployment Rate under Bill Clinton was 5.6

The overall avg. Unemployment rate in the 90's was 5.7

The overall avg. Unemployment rate since 1980 is 6.3

This is not a Pro Bush post... but a Pro America ... things are not as bad as the Pro Obama Media would have you believe ....

I don't care what the "pro-Obama" media says. I can read the business & economic stats myself. Unemployment rate is one slice of it. The fundamentals of this economy are terrible; the housing market - which propped up the economy for years - is dead. Home equity is at the lowest level since before WWII. Since people have record debt against that home value, that's a problem. There is also the problem with regular wages not keeping up with COL & costs like tuition, healthcare & energy. Then, there are the gas prices.

When you think about the whole picture, the media has actually been pretty tame in their coverage. The economy is a mess right now.

Ohh that see they were worse than us rationalle. Been seeing a lot of that from the right lately.

No ... stop with the election year partisan bull shit and try to see things with out the blinders...

Things are shaky ...no doubt. We have a housing industry thats hurting to say the least... Energy prices are out of control and we are in a Quagmire in the Middle East....

But...for the most part ...we still have strong Employment in this Country ... some parts are hurting much more than others ... but thats always been the case.

But you Socialists and your partners in the Mainstream Media will do and say anything to make sure your Messiah gets elected.

As I have been saying, you ain't seen nothing yet.

About 7 months ago most of the experts were saying the economy and such were fine.
Where will we be 7 months from now ?

It's nice to have a Republican back around these parts just to remind me of how bat-shit loony (and inane) they are.

Everything will be just fine ... Obama the Messiah will be President ...

HaHa, the economy is struggling now but fundamentally it is strong and will bounce back. However that's just pro U.S. b.s. I'm spouting.

some might believe that, but not me. Too much negative stuff is already in motion.
Even if obama / congress did everything right it will still suck for a while.

You guys keep saying this. I haven't heard anyone on the left proclaim Obama the Messiah.

Are we allowed to get excited about a candidacy anymore? I know you idiots feel self-conscious because you voted twice for one of the most incompetent Presidents in history, and you're giving "detached cynicism" a try now, but that's not our fault.

Better yet McCain will be President and we'll get more of the Bush economy. Anemic job creation for everyone!

So Presidents create Jobs? I thought that was the job of entrepreneurs ...

Presidents help create an environment that is friendly to entrepreneurs... not hostile. Like keeping taxes in line ... something I have trouble thinking Obama will do... considering all the Cradle to Grave programs he wants to create.

You can get excited .. I have no problem with that. I just find it amusing .. actually I wish I had a candidate I can get just excited about ...

I also find it amusing how you have no ability to read a post outside the circle ... you are like a Discussion Room Zombie

Hmmm...which candidate is proposing more Bush and which candidate is proposing more Clinton?

And pray tell, what are all of these "Cradle to Grave" programs he wants to create? I haven't heard much of them.

That's kind of an elitist way to put it, but I'll bite. What do you mean "outside the circle?"

Just because jobs were created while Clinton was in office does not mean he was the cause of the job creation. If you want to play that game... take a look at which direction the economy was heading in from March of 2000 until Bush took over in early 2001.

Whats that? Oh yeah, two negative quarters of negative growth, tech and telecom bubbles burst. Enron, WorldCom, Global Crossing, Quest etc.... all committing fraud right under Clintons nose.

That is all because of him too right? Since it happened while he was in office?

I'm not saying that Clinton was the cause of job creation. I was responding to a specific comment from klaatu, specifically:

"Presidents help create an environment that is friendly to entrepreneurs... not hostile. Like keeping taxes in line ... something I have trouble thinking Obama will do... considering all the Cradle to Grave programs he wants to create."

It seems clear that Clinton's policies were not "hostile" to job creation. It seems equally clear the Bush's policies are not necessarily "friendly" to job creation. Obama's proposals are more akin to Clinton's policies whereas McCains proposals are a continuation of Bush's policies.
