Ooh. There was an 'argument'.....good thing one of them had a gun!

SACRAMENTO - A man was discovered shot to death in the parking lot of a Sacramento apartment complex late Thursday night.

Friday, authorities identifed him as 23-year-old Sherrick Melson.

Police officers were called to the complex on the 2700 block of Meadowview Road at 10:59 p.m. after individuals in the area heard gunshots and saw a person on the ground in the parking lot, said Officer Michelle Gigante of the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers reported finding the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived soon after and pronounced Melson dead.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene. Preliminary findings indicated the shooting may have been the result of an argument.

The Sacramento Police Department asked anyone with information pertaining to this investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

America The Shootiful....

Dozens of residents in the Triple Crown Meadow neighborhood in Logan County came together Sunday night for a candlelight vigil. They gathered in front of a home in the 1500 block of Derby Lane where a 3 year old accidentally shot and killed himself.

It was Saturday afternoon when Logan County authorities rushed to the home on a shots fired call.

When they arrived, they discovered the 3 year old dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities say the home belonged to the victim’s uncle, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

A Logan County spokesperson tells us the gun was left on a bedroom nightstand and that it was the trooper’s personal weapon, not his state-issued gun.
