I was going to say this. Brain injuries and organic problems can cause people to miss much. Read "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" and "It was on Fire When I Lay Down On It", both by Oliver Sacks. Brain tumors, cancer and injuries are no laffing matter and this absolutely gives him a way out in re the hit and run.

I don't own a cell phone. I got rid of mine about 2 months ago and I feel liberated. I still have a home phone, and my girlfriend has a cell phone for emergencies on the road, but I am now untuchable at times.
