Canada steps in to help Cuba!

IT would also infect them with our culture.
TV and movies do that. The Cubans want the American culture. There are some who try to start restaurants for tourists. Other countries do not stop tourism. It is just their closest neighbor who does. If you are confident capitalism is better, then you have a test here to prove it.

Canadians can still go to Cuba freely, I think. Only Americans can't.
Yes, and their tourism is huge money for the Cubans, there were also quite a few Europeans there. In fact Swedish food is big there, I ate in a Swedish restaurant for the first time, and I noticed quite a few others.

I guess we will see.

When I was on vacation in Havana a few years back, the place was filled with Canadian tourists.
They go there because Canadians are notoriously cheap.
They vacation on the government dime and spend no money.

The joke in Mexico was,
Americans come for a week and bring enough cash for three months,
Canadians come for the winter and bring one week's worth of cash.

BTW,

Its simply not as red as Utah or Alabama. Not as backwards or poor either. Oh, I forgot about Mississippi and Oklahoma.
If that is what you need to tell yourself

But, let's review

In 1992 Bush Sr won Florida by 1%
In 1996 Clinton won by 6%
In 2000 Bush Jr won by less than 1%
In 2004 Bush Jr won by 5%
In 2008 Obama won by 3%
In 2012 Obama won by 1%
In 2016 Trump won by 2%
In 2020 Trump won by 4%
In 2024 Trump won by 13%

So from 1992 to 2020 Florida was a tossup state bouncing between Republican and Democrat nominees with a slight edge to Republican 5-3 and the average margin of victory being 2.8%

Democrats lost ground by 10%. That is a political tsunami.

I notice that by choice you live in a ruby red state and not a blue state. Guess you like those low taxes don't ya? Typical demalquedacrat that doesn't walk the walk

OK, its still not the reddest state. Dumb shit.

BTW,
Maybe, they dont like to throw money around. That is understandable. Cuba is inexpensive, but not as inexpensive as Colombia.

Did I say it was "the reddest" state? I said it is a very red state.

But, I understand that this is your way of conceding. Enjoy living in red state with red state politicians imposing red state policies. Must be sooooo painful for you paying low taxes when you want to pay higher ones

bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

They can’t stand on their own? So you are saying trading with the US is of utmost importance?

Why don’t you caring lefties donate so they can use alternative energy? Wind and solar? They could be a beacon.

YOY say you live in Florida (reddest of red States). Should be a hop skip and a jump for you
(Reddest of red states)

We are losing our influence as others step up.
Don’t know about reaching out to Cuba, but Canada, as the EU, are extending themselves worldwide, the biggest gainer in Trump’s America First idiocy is China

Trump will fuck up our friendly relationships with our traditional allies that I wouldn’t be surprised if soon we share a heavily militarized border with Canada

I guess we will see.

When I was on vacation in Havana a few years back, the place was filled with Canadian tourists.
Cuba is one of the most popular, and cheapest winter vacation spots for Canadians. very much like Mexico is to the US.

I have gone to Cuba many times with Canadian friends and family, because even when America did not allow it any American could simply travel to Canada for X days, and then book and fly to Cuba from there. Cuba would not stamp your passport, and instead gave you a new page they stamped and you could throw away after you leave, so there was no history to track. To American customs, you just visited Canada and came home.

We’re back to that nowadays. I went during a very brief period of time when Obama loosened the rules. I’ve heard about the go to another country then Cuba method. What an amazing city Havana is. The early colonial architecture is still there to see.
