Democrats who swept Moms For Liberty off school board

We fight, We win
A Pennsylvania school board that banned books, Pride flags and transgender athletes slipped a last-minute item into their final meeting before leaving office, hastily awarding a $700,000 exit package to the superintendent who supported their agenda.

But the Democratic majority that swept the conservative Moms For Liberty slate out of office hopes to block the unusual — they say illegal — payout and bring calm to the Central Bucks School District, whose affluent suburbs and bucolic farms near Philadelphia have been roiled by infighting since the 2020 pandemic.

“People are really sick of the embarrassing meetings, the vitriol, they’re tired of our district being in the news for all the wrong reasons. And … the students are aware of what’s been going on, particularly our LGBTQ students and their friends and allies,” said Karen Smith, a Democrat who won a third term on the board.

:hand: :hand: :hand:

Let me guess -- the exit package was meant to further degrade the school district and its budget, am I right?

People ARE sick of this Reichwing crap in our schools and libraries, and are pushing back. The Patmos Library in Michigan was defunded last year by RW voters who were pissed that the library offered books on LGBTQ subjects, including ones written for young readers. Money began pouring in from around the world to keep the library open. Voters, weary of the negative publicity and the rancor, voted this month to refund the library.

Interesting...

Central Bucks School District is in rich suburb of Pennsylvania. The school district's student population is 78% White, and 1.5% Black. That is, it is your typical Leftist-Progressive all but White insulated from reality snobbish Leftist school district. At the same time it under performs on education with only 41.9% of graduating students being college ready.

So, it's your typical Leftist run school district turning out marginally useful graduates who will go on to become Antifa members or something.

I'm sorry you're so angry. Have a nice Thanksgiving. Hope by Friday things will be better.

Most likely in an off year election where their supporters turned up in strength while those that would oppose them didn't bother to vote. Off year elections are often that way. Politicians know that and regularly use such elections to get stuff they could never get passed in a presidential election year or a mid-term election. They know that supporters of some generally unpopular measure or whatever will turn out to vote for it while the opposition is often apathetic and fails to vote in such elections.

For example, here in Phoenix light rail is generally unpopular. So, bills to fund it are mixed in with other, popular, transportation funding and then sent to vote on an off-year election. The light rail supporters show up heavily in favor of the bill while most voters are apathetic about it and turnout is low. The bill passes and light rail survives.

Likely the same sort of thing in that school board election.

It looks like these bigots slipped in under a complacent radar and started to implement their plans for a Christofascist theocracy. The installation of fundie far-RW school board members has been an ongoing problem in the suburbs of America, including where we used to live. One woman who ran for the local school board the year before we left was a good example. She was a fundie Xtian RW home-schooling mother who had five kids, none of which attended any schools in the district. Yet she ran for the school board anyways. Her "platform" was opposition to the school district giving all students a laptop for class work. The computers were donated and had to be turned in to the school at the end of each school year. Our city had annexed a nearby low-income area where most of the kids didn't have access to computers. The voters approved this as well. She thought the computers would lead to bad stuff, or something, and that kids shouldn't be relying on technology to learn. She lost. Too many others though have won.

Bingo.

I am willing to bet that Central Bucks School District is noticeably better than Gardner's home school district.

At the same time it under performs on education with only 41.9% of graduating students being college ready.

The alt right ignorance makes any debate with them impossible. They cannot read a simple report. There is no percent mark after "41.9", because it is not meant as a percent. Selecting the "i" next to the number gives what it is an index of "A zero to 100 index value reflecting the extents 12th graders took AP and IB exams and scored 3 or higher for AP; 4 or higher for IB." Most college bound students do not have advanced placement, so you can more than double that 41.9 to get the percent that are college ready.

Central Bucks School District is in rich suburb of Pennsylvania.

There are some very expensive houses in Central Bucks County, but there are also some very poor people in the area. It is a suburb, but also rural area. It is called a fringe area, because it combines rural with proximity to cities.

It is very white, and very old. The voters are disconnected from the students, and there are fewer students than you would expect from that many people. Other than that it is an extreme swing area, with Democrats and Republicans being very evenly split.

You hate Democracy huh

Then stay in Siberia you pile of rat shit

American voters run this nation

And whoa to any who stand in the majority’s way in a democracy

It’s over

Tell Putin you failed

Cheating in elections and lying about election outcomes is what idiots who hate democracy do fuck fart

You are the definition of a democracy hater

Remember those decades your party screamed that we are NOT a democracy

So the alt rights final action while in office is to steal $700k from the taxpayers... That basically sums up the situation.

And yet you are still far better off in a Blue State than a Red State for education. Go figure.

You're correct, it does. But the school district I live in is radically different ethnically and in composition in general.

https://www.usnews.com/education/k12/arizona/districts/peoria-unified-school-district-4237-108384

I live in an area within Peoria that is the upper end of residential properties usually referred to as "horse properties." These are 1 acre lots that were originally intended for people who wanted an urban farm where they could have a horse or two, that sort of thing. Today these properties are rarely agricultural at all but instead have really expensive houses on them. It makes a large greenbelt across Peoria, but that's more of an exception to the city than the rule.

As far as Central Bucks County goes, I can see it being one where a big chunk of the voters are White Liberals / Progressives / Leftists who think of themselves as 'enlightened' and by into all the woke Leftist bullshit entirely.
