“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”
The Justice Department on Friday said it has declined to prosecute Attorney General Merrick Garland for contempt of Congress, according to a letter obtained by ABC News.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to send a contempt referral to the Justice Department. House Republicans had demanded Garland turn over the audio of President Joe Biden's interview with special counsel Robert Hur to the House Oversight and Judiciary committees and Garland refused.

"Consistent with this longstanding position and uniform practice, the Department has determined that the responses by Attorney General Garland to the subpoenas issued by the Committees did not constitute a crime, and accordingly the Department will not bring the congressional contempt citation before a grand jury or take any other action to prosecute the Attorney General," the Justice Department said.

Yep, much as it sucks, Biden exercised the same executive privilege there that Trump was happily spamming during his presidency.

And the Biden administration calls Trump a "dictator..." They happily tossed Steve Bannon in prison for doing the same thing...

Of course; the KGB doesn't proseecute the Politburo.

And they refused to prosecute Biden's documents crimes because he's "too old" .
Nope

  • The special counsel, Robert Hur, found evidence that President Joe Biden mishandled classified documents but didn’t pursue criminal charges, saying the evidence did not establish Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and that Biden would be sympathetic to a jury.

Wrong again

Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress in 2022 after failing to provide documents and testimony to the House Select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack. He was sentenced to four months in prison.

It's illegal to refuse a congressional subpoena.

2 U.S.C. § 192 - U.S. Code - Unannotated Title 2. The Congress § 192. Refusal of witness to testify or produce papers

And it is a crime.

...shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000 nor less than $100 and imprisonment in a common jail for not less than one month nor more than twelve months.
op cit.

So, the DOJ is lying or insanely incompetent in that they don't know the law they are supposed to enforce.
