New York changed their law on the statute of limitations for filing civil suits in cases of rape, incest, etc., with a one-year window for filing before the law reverted to its former limitations. E Jean Caroll's lawyers filed the lawsuit against Trump the day after the law passed. That means they knew it would pass and were forewarned about it being done because they'd need time to fill out all the necessary paperwork.
Interestingly, it is also the ONLY case filed in that one-year window against someone.

Seems this is a little payback by the state of New York for her helping them get Trump on something, anything.

It really is incredible and i think the federal SC will throw out the verdict for that reason. You can't cancel the SOL and make it retro-active.!!! Trump may have had proof carroll made the story up and when the SOL ran out he said, "don't need this anymore," and tossed it.
