RULES FOR THE FOOTBALL PICKS GAME
1. All picks for game(s) on any given should be posted one hour before kickoff of the game(s) if possible. The latest anyone can post their picks is anytime within the hour of any game(s) before the kickoff of any game(s) scheduled. For example; a game is scheduled for a 12:00 noon kickoff. The latest time to post picks would be 11:59AM. People can post their 12:00 noon games and their 3:00PM games, etc, separately as long as the posting of any games is before kickoff.
2. Picks that are late, or are not posted at all by any player(s) will be forced to take the football line which can be found at http://www.footballlocks.com/nfl_lines.shtml unless another source can be agreed upon. Games that have no line, or are “even” will be considered a tie, unless players can agree on one source of an individual (such as a sports commentator) that posts their picks online provided that the pick(s) were made before the kickoff of any given game in question.
3. Any player can state that he/she will be picking the opposite (OPP-?) of any other player on any given game as long as the player picking this way has a worse record than the person he/she is specifically picking against. This usually happens around the end of the season, and can’t be done on any game played in week 1. This means that a person leading all other players can’t do this.
4. A person can change one, or any number of picks as long as it does not conflict with rule number 1, and isn’t, of course, a game already decided.
5. After the Super Bowl, there’s usually a big pot of winnings to be split between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. This would be hard to do using players from the JustPlainPolitics pool of players, seeing that most people don’t want their identities to be known. So if anyone has any ideas, speak up. It would be nice if there were enough players to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers something. This doesn’t seem possible though.
