Ted Haggard: Disgraced pastor gives sermon at Morrison, Ill., church

Without being explicit, disgraced national evangelical minister Ted Haggard stood before the congregation of a Morrison, Ill., church and broke his silence about the scandal two years ago that caused his downfall.

Haggard was the guest preacher Nov. 2 at Open Bible Fellowship Church, where he spoke once in the morning and once in the evening. His morning topic was “Jesus’ Righteousness in Us,” while the evening sermon was titled “Praying for Revival.”

It was around Nov. 1, 2006, that Haggard was accused of having a relationship with a male prostitute and using methamphetamine. He was founder and pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches, and leader of the National Association of Evangelicals. All he had built came crumbling down.

What it doesn't say in this story, I'll see if I can find another... Is his excuse of a Demon entering his body when he was molested as a child that found root and didn't come to fruition until he was 50....

Too much! We have medication for that.

I guess he watched too much Flip Wilson when he was a kid.

"The devil made me do it!"

Damo, I thought you were talking about your board groupie citizen. His man crush on you has continued even after the election.

Ahhhh religious fervor. Allows the man to claim external locus of control and take no responsibility for his own drug driven homosexuality. Poor poor Rev Haggard.

A prime example of the party of personal responsibility.

Another myth bites the dust. And another one dies, and another one dies...

He still has some power if people listen to him.
You forget that he was a religious advisor to Bush ?
Yes, past tense. And only on one topic. I didn't "forget".

He'll never have that kind of access ever again. He may get to be a pastor of a church again, but he'll never have the following or that kind of access.

Yeah, I am sure he is, and I am sure that he has been "cured" of his affliction.

It just boggles my mind.

I wonder how much money he's asking the faithful for? Whatever the amount, I bet they give it to him.

"After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive counseling, overseen by four ministers. On [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_6"]February 6[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007"]2007[/ame] one of those ministers, Tim Ralph, stated that Haggard "is completely [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterosexual"]heterosexual[/ame].""

lol.
