Two House Democrats are urging President Joe Biden to negotiate with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on the debt ceiling following the passage of the House GOP-led bill to raise the cap this past week.

Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME), who represents a swing Maine district, and Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), a first-term congressman who won with under 52 percent of the vote, are saying that Biden should negotiate with McCarthy on the debt ceiling.Golden told CNN on Friday the president needs to sit down and talk to McCarthy about making a debt ceiling compromise now that the Republicans passed a bill, “You’ve been asking them to pass something – so it’s time to sit down and talk.”“We got one camp that they want to talk about spending — and they want to do that before they agree to raise the debt ceiling,” Golden added.”We have got another camp that says they are willing to sit down and talk about spending after we deal with a debt limit. It’s semantics.”

Moskowitz also told CNN on Friday that Biden must negotiate with the Speaker.

Does not matter this is about the debt ceiling. The budget passed in December it was an omnibus bill because Democrats did not do their job. It is time to be working on next years budget

You don't understand we go years without a budget. Congress hasn't done it's job in decades. You should be asking yourself why.

You mean they do omnibus budgets. They need to get rid of base line budgeting and do their jobs of budgets for each department

Negotiate? Do you negotiate with your debtors which ones you intend to pay and which ones you do not?

There is no negotiating on paying the debts you already signed off on!

This just goes to show how Republicans are irresponsible and how they play games with the American People!

And never mind the fact that under the Donald Trump administration, he and a Republican led Senate, raised the deficit by 8 trillion dollars, and the Senate raised the debt ceiling 4 years in a row- so that the country would not default under Donald Trump's watch!

But now under Joe Biden's watch, and a Democratic led Senate, THEY WANT TO SEE THE COUNTRY DEFAULT ON IT'S DEBTS!

Typical Republican recklessness and BUTT HURT retaliatory vindictive Mean-spirited POLITICALLY MOTIVATED HATEFULNESS!

This is why people are leaving the Republican Party and voting with the Democrats now!

The Voting Majority is sick of the Republican Party's evil Hatefulness- on every issue before us!

No but I talk to my wife about financial things as Biden should talk to the GOP. congress and Biden are not our debtors they are the rewason for the debt
 
Could you imagine Joke being in hours of face-to-face negotiations with members of congress on the debt ceiling? The guy can't even do a half hour press conference.

No Sir! Many of the expenditures that made up the Trump Bills that he signed were set up to be paid for over 5 and 10 year spans!

So you can't blame that on Biden, just because the Bills that still need to be paid, are now coming in on Biden's watch!

You should do your research before running your mouth, and I wouldn't have to continually come behind you and clean up your misinformation for you!

The debt must be paid. The default could be catastrophic. McCarthy is doing brinkmanship to force Biden to cut significant programs he promised.
