There's no doubt that there are some cruel and irresponsible people out there that hunt but out of the millions of hunters in this country those types of people is the exception rather than the norm.
 
"Sport". "Fun."

Two men hunting in western New York shot two horses. Now their hunting licenses have been revoked.

Christian Smith, 48, and Glenn Gosson, 47, shot and killed one horse while wounding another in Livingston County.

Though Smith and Gosson were allowed to hunt on the land, they lost their hunting licenses and privileges for three years in the state of New York.

They were ordered to pay fees for the horses, which included veterinarian bills and burial fees. Both men were also fined $200 each.

EXCEPTION RATHER THAN THE NORM?​



Police suspect a hunter may have shot and killed a horse along Moulton Reservoir Road.

The albino quarter horse was in its corral on the 4400 block of Moulton Reservoir Road at the time.

The horse died after a "kill shot" with a high-powered rifle struck its heart, Butte-Silver Bow Undersheriff George Skuletich said Tuesday.

The horse's owner found the animal dead Sunday morning. Police suspect the shooting occurred sometime over the weekend. The animal was worth about $5,000.

General rifle hunting season for deer and elk closed Sunday.

In parts of New Hampshire, dairy farmers have to label their livestock with big signs saying "COW" during deer hunting season so they will not be shot.
