I find it interesting that Nomad attempts to belittle Damo's purchase as being 'a waste of money', etc. Why is it that liberals think that they know how an individual should best spend his or her money? Plus the object is obviously the work of an artisan, and yet liberals always tout artistic freedom and the importance of art.

The figure is probably wrong as a Katana is usually split after multiple foldings and a billet of low carbon steel inserted that gives the Katana its sharp and hard edge but a flexible back....which gives it it's incredible slicing power. So that probably throws off your calculation...which is beside the point...the sword has a crap load of layers.
Do you have any rapiers in your collection? They can make some incredible swords these days with modern alloys, forging and heat treat techniques.
