In less than a year, Trump erased 12 years of solvency for the trust fund that pays for Medicare Part A

FDR, Wilson and Obama, were all dealing with crisis that could have bankrupted the US without liquidity being forced into the economy.

That is EXACTLY when debt is supposed to be used and then when in good times (such as Trump has) debt should be paid down or at a minimum run flat.
MAGAts will never take off their blinders long enough to see the big picture. They swear fealty to Trump and only Trump. Anyone who disagrees is labeled a Lefty, Marxist, Commie. That's how they roll and why I believe they are enemies of the Constitution.

Medicare Part A, is free we paid into it?!! And you can use it once you turn 65 years old?!!
No. It's a supplemental plan with the other parts increasing coverage in other areas.

Original Medicare doesn't cover everything. If you need items or services

Part A (Hospital Insurance)
or
Part B (Medical Insurance)
don’t cover, you’ll have to pay for them yourself unless:

  • You have other health coverage that will help cover the costs. Learn about how other coverage works with Medicare.
  • You’re in a
    Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C)
    ,
    Medicare Cost Plan
    , or a
Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) plan
that covers these services. These plans may cover some extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like certain vision, hearing, and dental services.

I don't agree with the choice the Obama admin made in how to deploy the liquidity tactically. It should have been to the home owners and NOT Wall Street banks, which would have created great liquidity and strength across regional banks while lowering the 'too big to fail' big bank risk. That would have gave way more bang for the bucks as homeowners mortgages were reduced, allowing more to stay in their homes, and do more consumer spending. But Obama hand was forced as liquidity was necessary.

Clinton has been the best responsible POTUS in my life time.

Trump has arguably been the worst. Inheriting a healthy growing economy and piling in debt hoping to super charge it, which really did not happen and while demanding interest rates be lowered. The exact OPPOSITE of what gov't should be doing in good times, so they have bullets when the economy goes into another downturn.

Agreed on propping up the banks. Obama complained of "too big to fail", then he allowed the banks to remain "too big to fail" and also allowed airline mergers that made them too big to fail.

All this does is put taxpayer money into the pockets of the oligarchs.

No, Medicare is not free.

Parts A & B get deducted from your monthly Social Security payment.

It was $170 per month when I started, but probably more now.

And the coverage sucks big time.

Part C plans, AKA "Medicare Advantage" plans have much better coverage. Some of them put most of the monthly deduction back into your Social Security too.

Basically private insurance companies are getting the money you were paying the govt. and taking over the coverage. Because they get such better prices from doctors and hospitals, they don't have to take the entire amount in order to make a profit.

But there is no free Medicare.

Every leftist disagrees with Trump, and that's one reason why you lefties are indeed Marxists and Commies. You lefties stand for anything and everything that is anti American.

Trump slashed the funding. That money belongs to the super-rich. All of it does. The reds have been slashing taxes on the rich for 50 years, claiming it would trickle down and make us all secure. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ous-lie-don-t-fall-for-it-opinion/ar-AA1WZre8 36 trillion went to the top. That is why the wealth gap is at an all-time high. If any of you were old enough, you would remember when the working man had new cars regularly, vacation homes, and could afford to travel. In those 560 years of kleptocracy, the workers have been gutted. There was a time when the company succeeded, the workers succeeded.

QED

Now others may understand why I have no sympathy if you stop posting after the Day of Rage.

the weakening of Medicare and ACA are solid examples of the RW destroying public services

This is horribly fallacious. It starts from a fallacious premise, that a public service will decline in quality and or quantity if the budget is reduced. It is the opposite argument made that increasing the budget of a public service will improve quality and or quantity.

I would hold up the US public education system as a proven example of how fallacious tying money directly to institutional success in the public sector is a complete fail.

It also makes by inference the fallacious argument, tied to spending again, that privatization is the outcome and that privatization is bad.

It is overall, an argument for Socialism without any basis in fact or reason.

I am waiting to see just how much the MAGAS start crying after the cuts to many federal programs take effect next year and they lose some of those programs a lot of them need.
MAGAts whine a lot but they aren't very bright. Trump will tell them it's the Democrat's fault and they'll believe it.

Recent policy changes and economic shifts have slashed 12 years off the projected life span of the trust fund that pays for Medicare Part A, according to a newly updated report from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The Hospital Insurance (HI) Trust Fund is now slated to be entirely exhausted by 2040, even though the balance generally increases through 2031, as spending will begin to outstrip income in the following year.

This rapid deterioration of Medicare’s financial solvency represents a stark drop from the CBO’s previous estimate, which was published just last year, in March 2025. The dramatically shortened timeline means future retirees could face significant cuts to vital health care services far sooner than previously anticipated. As required by the Deficit Control Act, CBO Director Phillip Swagel noted the projections reflect the assumption benefits would be paid as scheduled even after the HI trust fund was exhausted.

The primary culprit for this accelerated depletion is a sharp reduction in the fund’s projected income, heavily driven by legislation passed over the last year. Specifically, the 2025 reconciliation act (Public Law 119-21, more commonly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act) significantly reduced the revenues the trust fund normally receives from taxing Social Security benefits. This legislation lowered tax rates and established a temporary deduction for taxpayers age 65 or older. Consequently, this major policy shift enacted during the Trump administration has directly contributed to starving the Medicare safety net of critical future funding.

Bet your numbers are based on next 20 year projection as usual practices between parties never discussing how evolving actually works daily here.

Well we see that all the time they keep voting against their best interests.
As I said when these cuts do take effect it IS going to hurt a LOT of Americans MAGAS included.
As I read states like Miss, AL , Fla and other reds states depend on money from Federal programs to fund a lot of things and when it is gone what are they going to do then?
If they want to keep programs that these funds fund they will have to raise their state taxes to pay for them themselves then watch then cry.

Agreed. They think they are "stickin' it to the Libs", but in reality they are exercising the old proverb of "cutting off one's nose to spite one's face". It's very short-sighted behavior and proves the common observation "MAGAts ain't too bright".

An analogy to MAGAt behavior is a little boy who keeps wanting to touch a hot stove while his mother is cooking. "Don't touch that, Billy, or you'll get burned". After telling her son several times and he keeps trying to sneak a touch, the mother just pulls out the burn cream and a bandaid then waits for her son to learn for himself.
