Intel, eyed for billions in U.S. grants, will fire 15,000 workers

Nothing seems to kill a corporation faster these days than some DIE policies and hiring...
That's certainly the truth.

Most of this is from getting investment money from places like Blackrock, which rate corporations and businesses by how 'woke' they are. So to get the money, they must be 'woke'.

It's a deal with the devil. As soon as customers find out, that investment is wasted on recovering from lost customers, particularly if the product or service sells to those living in the country.

If it can happen to Deere, or Tractor Supply, it can happen to anybody.

Meh, Intel chips suck right now. They haven't had any real innovation since 2007 or so.

The NVIDIA thing boggles the mind, too. Those jokers didn't even bring anything to market for around 2 years but their stock

kept going up. There's some serious fuckery going on with that.
Well...here's the thing.

The PC places certain requirements on what the chips must do and how they must behave.
Since 2007, both Intel and AMD have incorporated more and more onto their chips. Today, they ARE basically the motherboard, which now only consists of soakoff capacitors, some connectors, and a few driver chips (basically transistors to beef up the signal for a port).

Gone is all the glue logic for both Northbridge and Southbridge.

The chips are faster too, expanding on board caching and making it more efficient (improving Northbridge speed a lot!). The number of available threads have increased substantially in that time too.

As for me, I prefer AMD products, but Intel does all right for it's technology (even they are behind AMD at the moment).

As long as people want PC compatibles, the chips are pretty much restricted to that market. Even the phones are running in that kind of environment.

That said...

Most of the computer market is not PCs. They are small devices people don't even recognize as a computer. This is where the market is really making headway. Devices such as thermostats, automotive computers that run the engine, run the body sensors, run the audio head, provide diagnostic ports such as ODBC2, etc.; and industrial computers that help plants manufacture anything from paper to spacecraft. Those industrial computers also run power plants, treat wastewater in cities, monitor drinking water in cities, and even help the cops communicate. They are an important part of medical equipment as well, such as heart monitors, blood pressure monitors, equipment used in surgery, etc.

And don't forget what has improved in game consoles and tv sets over that time!

Intel, like Boeing, was in deep trouble even before it fell to the Death Cult.
No, it's not in trouble (other than paying for it's overexpansion). Intel has a solid market for it's chips.

What you are seeing is people bailing out of tech stocks (for now). There was overspeculation in it.

Boeing isn't in real trouble either. A lot of people still buy their aircraft.

Cartels don't have 'spots' to sell.

Cartels are also self destructive. It isn't long before someone independent starts selling that product.
That's how OPEC found out the hard way that they don't control oil prices.
but companies can be included or excluded from cartels.

so you think the finance industry cartel is doing poorly?

quit proving you're a fascist every moment.

cartels do great under Keynesian fake money regimes.

you're simply operating counter-factually.

:truestory:

This is what happens when you let Progressive Leftists run your country...

I don't understand your reasoning. When Trump got Foxxcon to commit to the US that turned out to be one giant boondoggle. It created virtually no jobs (the "plant" that they built in Wisconsin has remained empty).

Why is this a "Progressive Leftist" problem?????

Nothing seems to kill a corporation faster these days than some DIE policies and hiring...

You probably have no clue how corporations function and why they have ups and downs. But you do know you hate you some DEI. So now all bad things are DEI in your world.

Bad coffee? DEI!
Long traffic lights? DEI!
Earthquakes? DEI!

No, DIE and all programs that are sexist, racist, or the like, like DIE programs are bad. Corporations shouldn't hire on the basis of those things whatsoever.

Chip maker Intel said Thursday that it plans to lay off 15,000 people, a troubling sign for the Biden administration’s multibillion-dollar plan to rebuild the U.S. chip manufacturing industry.
The layoffs will affect more than 15 percent of its workforce, Intel said. The announcement came as Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told investors and staff that the company needed a massive restructuring to slash costs after posting a $1.6 billion loss in the second quarter.

You need to buy another computer..

but companies can be included or excluded from cartels.
Not by selling spots.
so you think the finance industry cartel is doing poorly?
There is no "finance industry cartel".
quit proving you're a fascist every moment.
Redefinition fallacy (capitalism<->fascism).
cartels do great under Keynesian fake money regimes.
Cartels have nothing to do with so-called "Keynesian economics".
you're simply operating counter-factually.
Learn what "fact" means. It does NOT mean "Universal Truth". Redefinition fallacy.

Trump doesn't run, own, or operate Fox.

Leftists do.

Trump did not build any so-called "plant". He is not a manufacturer. He is a very successful real-estate investor and developer.

You are describing yourself again. Corporations have no single way they "function". A corporation is not a verb, coffee brew, traffic light, or earthquake. DON'T TRY TO BLAME YOUR PROBLEM ON ANYBODY ELSE!
