The Iranians broadcast their intentions well in advance.
They used easily-downed slow drones and cruise missiles
They also used a limited number of ballistic missiles- which scored hits ( Don't expect our media to tell us this )
They learned from this that massed drone/cruise attacks will enable ballistic missile strikes with few losses. They have massive quantities of ballistic missiles.
They are intelligent. They have called a halt stating that the craven and illegal Israeli attack on their diplomatic facility has been avenged.
Biden has stated that the US will NOT assist any planned Israeli aggression against Iranian territory. He may be lying, of course, or he may not realize what he is saying. That's one of the problems of having a prosemitic geriatric dotard leading the country. However, the genocidal fascist, Netanyahu- and his degenerate cabal of pseudo-Jewish ghouls- must weigh the possibility of an indefensible Iranian ballistic missile response if they choose this time as an opportunity to try to position themselves as the future dominant regime in the Middle East- which of course is what they want- at the expense of American blood and treasure.
These are the intelligent appraisals of the situation with which I agree.
