Having no idea how logic works = stupid if not actually retarded....a term I use more loosely than psychiatrists or medical personnel.
While Perry is clearly low IQ and very immature for his age, conditions which are probably linked, I doubt his IQ is below 85 much less the standard cutoff of 70 to qualify as mental retardation. He's just "slow". So slow he has the maturity of a teenager while being in his 30s or early 40s.
There's a few individuals who are "slow" on JPP but not as slow as Perry. Libhater is clearly "slow". Stone is less slow and probably just average at 90 to 100. There's others who are "slow" but also elderly which indicates they are probably suffering from various levels of dementia rather than a genetic malady.
Some might be brain-damaged either by accident or stroke. College graduates have an average IQ of 113. All military officers are college graduates and, as the link below points out about Marine Corps officers, they are slightly smarter than most college students. I presume Air Force officers are the same. So what's wrong with ex-Captain Earl, USAF? It's not being low IQ so my guess is brain-damage.
All of my assessments are observational with my expertise garnered from over 40 years of evaluating people for fitness to complete mission goals. Doing this in person is a lot easier than doing it online, but over hundreds of posts, indications of IQ and education become clear.
An example is comparing you and
@Cypress to average JPP members. Obviously, both of you are above average IQ and above average education, either formal education (highly likely) or career job experience. Just as obviously, members like those previously mentioned are less capable and/or educated. People, like Perry who had claimed to have a PhD in Geological Chemistry, can claim whatever they like but their writing skills, maturity and rationality come through over hundreds of posts....or not, as in Perry's case. LOL
The average IQ of university students in Western countries is 113-115 points, which represents an IQ in the top 21% of the population as a whole.

An IQ score of 113 points is at the 79% percentile, meaning that in the United States, this translates into the top 21% of the population. In other words, one in five people have the average IQ of a university student.
The SAT can, however, tell us how incoming military officers compare to the average college-bound high school student in any given year. In 2014, the average SAT score of incoming Marine officers was 1198, compared to an average of 1010 for college-bound high school seniors.27 The average SAT score of incoming Marine officers was not maintained by Marine Corps Recruiting Command before 2005,28 but the Center for Naval Analyses reported the average SAT score of incoming Marine officers in 1983 to be similarly higher than their nonmilitary peers.29 Marine Corps officers therefore continue to be more intelligent than the average college student.
