BTW seems to me the queers have thier priorities fucked up. Heteros don't want to get married for "benefits" they do it to signify their love and commitment to starting a family and HAVING kids.

It is the natural order of things

1) no parent wants their kids to be queer
2) people want to have thier own kids with a partner

But you want to change this definition unless you believe that for thousands of years marriage always meant Hiney Humpers too and they just now realized they wanted to do it.

Gays want to marry for the same reasons straights do as well. They want to share a life committment with the one that they love. Whenever I have brought that up it has been ridiculed. I'm glad you see the real reason for marriage.

As for the benefits, there are some that cannot be gained without some changes. If we want to make all nonreligious joinings "Civil Unions" that would work.

I have no doubt that gays want to marry to have kids too. Lesbians will opt for either artificial insemination or will have sex to get pregnant, and gay men will work out some sort of deal with a birth mother or stick with adoption.
