JCPenney to close all 656 stores for 24 hours after announcing permanent closures in 8 states

The fact remains that JC Penney should've gone out of business in 1994.
JC Penny has been closing stores for years. They closed one near here years ago. It used to be a really nice store. Then, inventory started to shrink and a lesser quality of clothing and other goods replaced them. That sealed the deal.

My ex-girlfriend bought her first PC from JC Penny in 1994. The hard drive went bad within a month. I loved her but that Gateway? caused a lot of friction between us.

PC's were still junk in 1994

I have been told that people who have experience with retail in China and other places in Asia say that American retail is a couple of decades out of date.....managements that are not interested in doing their jobs and too much skimming of wealth off of operations so there is not enough money to maintain and modernize the stores.

PLANO, Texas (Jan. 8, 2025) — JCPenney and SPARC Group today announced that they have combined to form a new organization, Catalyst Brands, creating an unmatched portfolio of six iconic retail banners that celebrate the essence of American style.

Catalyst Brands brings together SPARC Group’s brands Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Lucky Brand and Nautica with JCPenney and its exclusive private brands, including Stafford, Arizona and Liz Claiborne

They have 11,000 employees. I know, Trumpys do not care about them. Weak people care about others.
Correct. Trump doesn't care.
