I agree with you and there have been lots of actors who have refused roles they thought demeaning or their character would be used for propaganda.

Cicely Tyson is one such actor who refused to star in The Color Purple .. but then again, black actors have been turning down the roles of toms, coons, bucks, pimps, whores, and mammies for years.

Of course, there is always someone else who will take their place .. as Oprah Winfrey did in Tyson's case.

Perhaps Sutherland just needed the money

What is especially bizarre about this is that this party opposes the war in Afghanistan and the war on terror. And he plays in 24? WTF? That show has a message completely antithetical to the NDP's. It says we have to sacrifice our freedom and our respect for human dignity and rights to get security - IE conservatism.

USC, my point was that he is betraying his principles by acting in that show. That show is an attack on the foundation of liberal democracy.
