Liability insurance should be required on firearms.

Requiring people to buy insurance or face a penalty?

Wouldn't that be....Socialism?

The insurance premiums should be subject to the usual criteria of age and risk.

yep they may even require a mental "physical", no pass no ins just like I cannot purchase private health ins becuase of an existing condition.
Proof of ins would be required for CC permit. This would be a good first step.

No penalty you just could not carry a gun off of your private property.
You could still own em as the constitution allows.
You could still protect your "castle".

We have a consititutional right to travel but autos require insurance on them to travel in them.

It seems so obvious I am surprised that the founding fathers didn't put it in the Constitution.

you're confusing the right to travel with automobiles. while you have a right to travel, you do not have a right to drive a car.

thus, your entire thread fails.

You have a right to own a gun, but not the right to carry it concealed off or your private property without permission from the govt.

Accidents with cars harm others or their property so does "accidents" with guns. Both should require liability insurance.

People that transport other hazardous materals on public property are required to have liability insurance for those hazardous materials.

TE=uscitizen too;1134629]You have a right to own a gun, but not the right to carry it concealed off or your private property without permission from the govt.

the concealed part you are partially right, taking the gun off your property is not at all right. you need to educate yourself regarding 2nd amendment rights.

again....cite where the constitution you have a right to drive a car. i can cite where i have the right to bear arms, can you show me the same right regarding cars?

False equivalency. A gun sitting on a table is no more hazardous than hammer. Only through use is there a potential hazard.

What do you think "bear arms" means?
