I got this in email today and hope some of the posters here will sign the petition. Just when you think the NRA couldn't get any more insensitive, they come up with this travesty.

"On the 2nd anniversary of the shootings in Tucson, Arizona, the NRA announces a national Gun Appreciation Day. But you won't believe when this event is scheduled...

On the day our nation remembers the life and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a leader committed to non-violence. The National Rifle Association has organized a Gun Appreciation Day on the very day we come together and honor an American hero, a leader who was tragically assassinated by a rifle's bullet!

Please CLICK THIS LINK to sign the petition telling the NRA that their Gun Appreciation Day is WRONG and must be stopped!

America needs sensible gun laws that protect law abiding citizens from those who are deemed criminally or mentally unfit to possess firearms. Our leaders are coming together to solve this crisis of gun violence. It's time the NRA offered real solutions and stopped playing politics.

Join United for Change USA and let's tell the NRA we won't tolerate a national Gun Appreciation Day on the day we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and non-violence!

Thank you!

Maybe that is because gun ownership is a civil liberty, and that 's what King was all about

MLK was about non-violence.

Of all the days of the year this tasteless group of yahoos decides to hold their celebration on MLK and inauguration weekend. A pox on them.

:rofl2:

You must also be upset that Obama set his inauguration the same day as that dead guy.

Did you hear about this? I was going to start a thread but I'm sure someone else has probably done so.

Jesus was about non violence as well. The only time he got pissed was when he found the money changers in the temple.
So send in your seed money and support wars. Be a real christian.

Part two:

What a bone head. First off, Biden expressed that the President COULD use executive privelage, he didn't tell the President to. Secondly, the only reputable people talking about taking guns are people who can profit from high gun sales. I can't imagine how they pulled this off, these people are pretty smart..

Hanging on to gun rights is like hanging on to slavery!
No it isn't, ending slavery increased freedom.

Ending gun rights decreases freedom.

Banning guns will increase gun crime, violent crime and property crime.

Just as has happened in every nation that has banned guns!!

You liberals hate freedom!
