I can name Sammy Davis, Jr., Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, and Muhammad Ali, but they're all dead and I don't know anybody from pop culture after that era.
I suppose Barack Obama and Floyd Mayweather are two living African Americans. But among my fellow geriatrics up here in snow white suburban New England, those are the the only people of color of whom I'm aware.

I'm being facetious, of course, but what's the point of this thread? Are we going out of our way to sustain race-centric thinking?
