That and it's either a squeeze on giving or all about the padre.

I've seen both, and I think most Catholics today are comfortable with the fact that the priest's duty to the parish includes harrassing us for money, so its not usually an issue. Also, priests generally have a quick speel worked out for gilting us into contributing.

Now, the personal stories are a different matter. Those will piss people off. Especially if the story predates the pastor's life in the seminary...

At protestant church the speeches can last upward of an hour, maybe two hours. I don't know how the preacher does it.

Some of the pentecostal churches actually have a tag team of preachers up there.
