Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is responsible for the deadly attack on aid workers in the Gaza Strip in a statement on Tuesday.

He called it a "tragic case of an unintentional strike" by Israeli forces on "innocent people," in a video message posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Israel is in contact with the governments of the people who were killed and would do everything so that such an incident does not happen again, Netanyahu said.

The vehicle was poorly marked. The workers were wearing clothing that looks identical to Hamas combatants. At a range of 2 or 3 miles were the firing platform launched the PGM that took the vehicle out, it looked like a legitimate target in a combat zone.

The workers were absolute fools to think that a decal on the roof the vehicle would identify them. They should have, at a minimum, painted the vehicle in a contrasting high visibility color scheme

and possibly flown a large flag like vehicles at airports do to avoid being hit by planes

and told the Israelis all of that.

That would have worked until Hamas started copying it to run their troops undercover of a false flag.

The workers likewise shouldn't have been in all-black uniforms. High visibility vests and possibly personal flags to show their position clearly would have helped.

They were in a declared war and combat zone after all.

So? If you look at it, most of that decal is WHITE like the car, and the only easily identifiable thing on it at a distance would be the orangeish frying pan. The lettering is all pale blue. It's also only on top of the vehicle. If the firing aircraft were at very low altitude, it wouldn't be looking at the roof.

Using "pop up" munitions, the missile would approach low to the ground in a flat trajectory then in the terminal stage climb and then dive into the top of the target like it did. That's done to attack hardened targets like tanks where the roof of the vehicle is the thinnest armor.
