Newtown: Now We Know Why It Happened!

Of course! Why didn't we think of this before?

The tragedy at Newtown happened because there were no men around to save the children!


There was not a single adult male on the school premises when the shooting occurred. In this school of 450 students, a sizeable number of whom were undoubtedly 11- and 12-year-old boys (it was a K–6 school), all the personnel -- the teachers, the principal, the assistant principal, the school psychologist, the "reading specialist" -- were female. There didn't even seem to be a male janitor to heave his bucket at Adam Lanza's knees.

As dumb as that is Howey you said previously a 22 year old woman with a gun wouldn't be able to handle a male attacker. So in essence you think along the same lines as this author you attempt to mock which is basically women are weak and can't protect themselves.

Not really. The normal 22year old male would face a similar dilemma.

Very few ppl are comfortable with the thought of pointing a gun at another human being and killing them.

Ask the thousands and thousands of young men returning from Afghanistan with PTSD.

It has nothing to do with being comfortable with it. If you are standing face to face with someone who is about to try and kill you I don't think one's thought process would be "I just don't feel comfortable protecting myself and shooting this person so I'm going to let this person shoot me so I die" or "I have myself and 20 kids standing behind me but I don't feel comfortable shooting this gun at the person threatening all our lives and would rather have him kill all of us".

Did the people you reference returning from Afghanistan get into a gun battle and then stop shooting and turn around and walk away with their lives at rish because they didn't feel comfortable shooting someone? My guess is if someone is uncomfortable shooting someone else (to the point that they couldn't do it) they probably aren't going to volunteer to be in the armed forces and work their way up to the front lines of war.
 
The scary thing is that is only the second stupidest thing written on Newtown in a major magazine, only out done my Megan McArdle's dumbassery in Newsweek. And no, I'm not linking to it.
 
You guys should let people have guns, but subject gun owners to monthly/random inspections of their weapons and their storage facilities. Treat gun ownership like you treat small business. Require liability insurance and massive penalties for insecure storage or firearms.

Require combination locks and thumbprint recognition to open gun safes.
Have fines that can bankrupt the average person for violations of safety code.

Make having a gun not worth the headache and you'll see the numbers of gun owners plummet

and what facts or info do you have that points specifically to aiming at another human being resulting in ptsd?

there is no pretzel twisting, except by you. i know many people who believe lack of god in our society, schools etc...has lead to moral decay, violence etc.... he most likely meant...that if god had been in our schools, get ready now...this would not have happened.

the only thing you caught was hack hatred, nothing more.

its your mental health, you're going to burst a vein getting so angry when someone has a discussion with you and they don't agree with you. might cause other stress related issues as well.
